Soft Panniers - Luggage

O

Ozzie

Has anyone fitted soft Oxford type panniers to theirs and had problems. Booked up for TT next year and in a bit of a blur what to go for. I need something that does not hinder my right leg getting over the bike....... Nae probs with the wife before you ask.

Ventura

Sit the bag on the rack rather than the seat if you struggle getting on.

MUCH better than panniers.

Ventura is the best tackle IMHO, I reckon if you can not get everything you need in a Bathurst [huge] /or similar bag on the rack with a couple of bits ie- tent, sleeping mat strapped to the seat your probably taking too much. Everyones got tips on riding with loads of clobber but my best tips would be to spread the gear with your mates if their going and make sure you don't take 2 of the same. Between myself and my 2 mates we manage to take cooker ,bowl, cups, plates, canopy for in between the tents etc etc. Meet up and have a trial pack. If you forget out you can usually get it when you travel.
The only time I have to put panniers on is if our Maud comes along and its murder keeping them away from the cans. Then because you have so much extra weight its a swine getting off the bike because it becomes unsteady. If you can pull up on a kerb so its a bit easier getting on and off or get a mate to steady the bike if its a bit awkward.:thumbup
