Snow joke!

I'm not one to blow my own trumpet (I can't reach) but I did ride to work the other day at 10.30pm at night, in 4 inches of snow. This may sound like utter lunacy, but by following 2 simple rules I actually had the time of my life. Firstly, wear MX boots, Secondly, do not not under any circumstances use the brakes. I was grinning like a little kid when I got to work (coming into the carpark sideways) and some of the looks I got from passing motorists were absolutly priceless....

I used to do it every winter years ago on an old GSXR 400, 30 miles each way starting at 5 am. It certainty gets your arse twitching, I use the car now, I fire it up 20 minutes before leaving and drive in comfort.

Back in the days when i had only a bike i rode to work in all weathers, snow, ice etc.

Sometimes i ended up on my arse and in hospital but snow was actually prefferable to ice. You can see it and you know where it is bad etc.

I can remember riding to work in snow and barely was the bike in a straight line over the 45 min ride. It was fun but boy was it cold. I was using a Bell MX helmet and goggles with a scarf round my neck (Ice hanging from frosty snot on my nose)

It was a Yamaha DT so slightly more suited for the task but the tyres were more road than not.

A pit bike? :biggrin

just been looking at these ...they do one with a bigbore 180 cc engine now

would love to try one out ..not sure how they'd cope with my 17stone lump though..look like lots of fun

He then spent the rest of the day cleaning it.:devious:thumbup

I got a 50 cc twist and go one for my son. He's scared to death of it.

It will pull me once it gets going but any form of hill or abuse and you can smell the clutch burning. It's sat in the shed for 3 years now looking dusty and sad.

Do you know how far it is to walk to the NEC ?

Actually my DT was used and abused, quite rusty by the time i sold it.
It's only since i started to spend half my life earnings on bikes that i got precious about them.
