I have a new battery, fully charged, all plugs are good (no corrosion or melted wires), all earths are good (battery to frame and frame to engine).
Cant see any dodgy wiring at all yet on occasion when starting the engine stops completely at TDC and the clocks reset.
The next prod of the starter will have her spinning up no probs.
She normally starts straight away on the first compression stroke but as I say it doesnt always get past TDC.
I am good with mechanics and electrics dont scare me and I do understand them but this problem has me baffled.
All evidence would point to an earth side problem as the starter motor and clocks are both affected but as I said all earths look good.
I am thinking if it was the solenoid then the bike would struggle to turn over but it wouldnt reset the clocks as they have their own positive supply.
Its more like the effort to turn over the engine is too much for the battery but not all the time!
Other thoughts are that the engine is fireing too far before TDC and causing this to fight the starter i.e. kickback. If you have ever had to kickstart a large capacity 4T dirtbike you will know this can be very powerful and hurt a lot.
Anyone have any experience of this problemo?
