SIDESTANDS - update !

Hi everyone,

Well I looked at 3 possibilities for upgrading the stand.

1. Complete redesign.......Too expensive & too time consuming.
2. Fabricate the top saddle as one piece....Too expensive & time consuming.
3. Redesign the top saddle to accept weld on the inside as well as the outer mating edges.....DONE.

This stand has been on the bike for a few weeks & I have personally strapped the bike down with ratchet straps, bounced the bike up & down on the stand ( 2 of us actually lifted the bike a few inches off the ground & let go !. Also pivoted the whole weight of the bike on the stand with both wheels off the ground & finally sat on the bike & pivoted it on the stand ( both wheels off the ground ) with my mate helping me to balance !

The stand has no signs of cracking etc & short of x-raying that's about as much as I can do to ensure the integrity.

Any comments / questions or concerns welcomed about the new stands OR the previous stands.

Gary

Gary,

I have one of your stands and think its top quality, Im over the moon with it, no other comments from me unless your doing a part exchange on your old versions for the new improved ...."just in case"?

Gary,
I also have one of your stands. It's been on my Factory for about 12 months now and not had any problems with it. I don't 'abuse' it though. I allways lean the bike over gently, don't carry heavy luggage and don't try and turn it on the stand(I think your original instructions reccomended that anyway).
Mind you I'd probably whinge if it ever did fail.
Cheers FNF

Whats the price? Mine is crap and looks a bit squashed/bent half way down. See pic

Stand availibilty

The sidestands are now £51 including packaging & posting.

The workshops that I use etc have increased their prices so I've done the same by a pound !

If I get orders for 10 or more I can let them sell for £45 inclusive.

Let me know guys.

Oh ...the stand fits all mille's / rsvr's / tuonos & falco's.

Are you saying there are issues with the older stand or just upgrading the original? Ive had no issues with the one I purchased from but would sooner know if its gonna die at some point lol.

Good work!

There was a long thread all about the stands if you look back a few weeks or so.
Some people had problems with the earlier versions developing cracks at the head.
This version is to address that.

My personal opinion and it is just a personal opinion is i would prefer not to have a stand on a big bike with a welded head simply because stands flex no matter how you build them especially at the head. Welds in a flex area always run the risk of cracks because welds tend to be stiff and brittle.

Hence the load areas of your swingarms/frame etc are all cast as one piece.
