yo yo afternoon
just asking if anyone has had there new sidestand from gary at bikingbananas, as i did ring him at the begining of the month and he said ring back nr the end of the month so i did but the number dont work at the moment, just i dont do ebay or pay pal had issues in the past with all that, so was gonna go collect in person .as he is not far. busting my nut to get this stand soon as
dunno if hes still doing them??????????? anyone know?

Hi there, got mine about 10 days ago. But the side attachment for the retaining spring is set about 10-15mm too low, so the spring will not stretch that far. Tried for about 45mins, no chance its going on! Put the OEM stand back on and it took 2mins.

Trying to sort out a longer spring.
 
I've got a spare Bubsywoo stand.I bought it s/h off ebay ages ago and never fitted it.Some folks are really happy with theirs,others have had issues with return springs and fitting problems.No idea about this one,£35 inc postage if anyone wants it.
 
Today fitted a Fireblade side stand. Fitted straight on. Switch fits back in place, no problems. Bought it from local Honda dealer here in Sydney $79.00. Bike now looks safer
 
I got round to fitting a fire blade side stand today after reading many threads. It fitted straight on but although it bends out further, I cannot say that the lean angle has changed much.
My question is, as I haven't changed the suspension settings or ride height and I have an R not a factory, should I keep this or go back to standard?
 
I agree with you on the lean angle but at a later stage i will be removing it and taking to it with an oxy torch to bend it out a little more below the bottom spring anchor. If you want to look at a weird shape of a side stand
look at a BMW R1200GS this is where i got the idea to modify it

Tony - the issue with the standard stand isn't the lean angle, it's the fact that the base of the stand sits way too close to he bike. This means the bike is more likely to fall over with a slight nudge or in a strong wind.

I've got a bubseywoo stand which is great, as you say the angle of lean isn't hugely different, but the base is further out making it far more secure. I assume the Fireblade stand does the same.

Just got back from a run down to Hastings to get some miles under my belt for the first service. What a great bike. I had almost forgotten the feeling and sound that twin thumping away.
Now if only I can make my mind up about pipes. Leaning towards Arrow at the moment...

go onto US ebay

buy a US Tuono spec stand (longer, stronger thicker correct angle) not overly expensive, sold my euro spec one on ebay to get some cash back and I think my net outlay was about £25

fits perfectly, looks good...and takes 10mins to fit.

job done

I bought a second hand stand for another bike but on looking at the original i noticed it would be a doddle to do it ur self

So now having a spare stand and an rsv to fit it to. what i done was

I cut a v groove in the stand at the top about 70% of the way on the kerb side[facing you when you look at it]. Then I bent the stand to close up the gap and my neighbor welded it for me. A lick of paint and its fitted and far better than the original in that it leans more and slightly further away from the bike

After I put the honda stand on I took it off, cut 5 or 10mm off it, welded the foot back on and refitted, much better. I did notice the stand now touches the pipe though, will need a spot of weld on the stand to prevent it folding too high. I have the forks down to the 4th line.
 
I have the same problem with the Bubsywoo stand. Tried for 1hr, but there is no way the original spring will stretch to fit it. In the end threw the ferkin thing at the back wall of the garage, it's still there. Tried to source a longer spring, but no luck. Waste of money, but it obviously fits some Tuonos. Mine is a 2008 1000R, and it's just not having it. Just wish that he had checked it fitted ALL Tuonos before advertising as such. Yet another bad experience with Ebay. Last one was a pillion seat that the neep said fitted a Tuono 2006 onwards. Clearly wasn't the correct seat, took Ebay 2 months to sort that one out. Life is too short to deal with these dodgy monkeys. It's also *******ing snowing again, so all in all, I'm in a bad mood.
 
I have the original stand on and have had no probs , in fact it`s 4 years old in April and still has the original battery etc. .
The only mod is the Quill cans I put on last year , never missed a beat, starts ok .
I have heard that if your back tyre has a slow puncture and is left to go down the bike will tip over. Therefore get another sidestand. Apart from that I have no need to try and improve perfection.

neilmac - my bubseywoo stand was a ***** to fit and I was close to thinking the original spring wouldn't fit, but eventually after a lot of time, sweating, and swearing I did get it to go on.
 
My 08 rsv got a punture this week and went flat, only at the bottom though

Anyway it never got near tipping over in the garage but i put it on the abba stand just to be sure

Neil the spring does fit, the way i got it on was to fit the spring on both ends with the stand free then pull it till you can locate the bolt section of the stand. I had the bike in a chock so it would not move

Neil you live in on the funniest of roads m8. I travelled that road last year and it was great fun especially the single track sections. We were heading for the Arisaig, popping by the lighthouse but realised petrol was going to be a problem so turned around. Got to Arisaig with 120 miles from the tank of the TnT which only gave 110 usually and when asked if there was a petrol station near the old woman said " och no your in the highlands you know". After being informed there was one ten miles away we asked if it was open tommoroow[sunday] and guess what the answer was "och no your in the highlands you know":lol. Luckily it was
 
Yeh Dynamo the Highlands are a laugh. Nearly pissed in my tank when I had a Honda Firestorm a few years ago and was riding from John O'Groats across the top and down to Ullapool. Found a corner shop in a village with a single pump. What a ride though.
Only had the T since Feb' and haven't got over 100mls until the low fuel light comes on, about the same as the Firestorm. Looks like it's back to setting the 'trip' again when touring.:banghead
 
There's pumps at Strontian post office. It's expensive, but your best bet. Open on Sunday as well. Fill up there, and you should be fine for a trip round Ardnamurchan.
Or fill up at the Fort or Onich. I like to see the odd T going past, as generally they are on their own, unlike the nose-to-tail BMW GS riders, or Hardly Moving nobends. What is it about these born again bikers that make them travel in herds? Even funnier are the weekend R1 & GSXR power rangers who don't like being overtaken by some bloke in jeans on the way back from the ferry.
