Side Stand

I have replaced my bent RSV side stand with a Fireblade one. The bike stands so upright it scares me to leave it unless it is leaning down a hill. Can anyone tell me how much needs to be cut off, or more importantly, is there anyone out there that can cut it down and weld the foot back on? And how much would they want for doing it?

If you do a search there are quite a few threads on the side stand subject.:thumbup

With the firplace stand you need to cut out 10mm & reweld the foot on,Ive done half a dozen now & everyones pleased with them, even Griffer got one of mine on

Vince could you cut and weld mine if I sent it to you? How much would you want for doing it?

Cheers,
Alan.

I've done mine and it seems fine. It is a little upright, but no more than standard, and it's a lot more stable than the aprilia one.
Mine's a '99 bike, I don't know if that makes a difference.

Allan just read your thread reply, is the stand you fitted off the 2004 to 07 fireblade 1000rr, I have had one delivered today looks good but if before I fit it if it needs 10mm cutting off I might as well do it now. Ken. I donot like the idea of the bike still standing upright, ride safe buddy.

i believe it is recommended that 10m comes off ken. i know what u mean about the up-right-ness, almost looks like it's on a centre stand. had a moment on petrol station forecourt wrestling the ape as it began to go over not long back:eek: i'm scared to leave it anywhere. l'm in the habbit of putting it on full lock to the left when parked. does help a bit.

The bike is still fairly upright with the CBR sidestand, but it is much more stable. You'll be pleased with the result. Try it before you cut it, please, I think you'll find the extra work isn't necessarily required.
