I know there has been a few posts about this topic but seems abit confusing. Just wondering what stands people have used, how easy it was to fit and also cost.

Cheers

04-07 fireblade stand is a straight fit and the firestorm stand needs a hole drilling for side stand switch we have both these stands on our bike and there both miles better than original stand but the best option i guess is the usa stand

As said I put a USA spec one on mine, bracket and arm springs etc, straight fit :thumbup, much better lean angle and a lot thicker than the original one it came with, search for aprilia rsv kick stand on the bay, mine was about £60 inc delivery.

What year of firestorm? I carnt find a fireblade stand on flee bay, plenty before 04 and after 07 like. :banghead

Firestorm should be a universal one the model never changed as far as I know! I had a 96 and a 2001 both identical

Oh and in the use a it's called a super hawk in case there's a cheapish one to buy in from USA

Can I just ask what are the reasons people are changing their stands?
My stand seams too short and located too close to the centreline of the bike. So the bike always seams on the verge of toppling over.
I ask this because in some threads that I've read some have had to shorten stands.
Does the fireguard stand sort out one thats too long or too short?

Cheers Jeff

Some are too long & some are too short :dunno
My stand was too short so I extended it by cutting & welding a piece in, still not as upright as I would like but any longer & it wouldn't fit in the fairing recess.

Before

After

How much did you extend it by? and did you use tube or a rod to extend it?
One of my winter jobs plus getting rid of the brown conector.

Jeff.

Can't remember how much I extended it by, think it was about 20mm anyway it just fits in the fairing recess now. I used a piece of tube the same diameter with a solid bar plug running through just to make sure :thumbup

Yeah mine was to long sort of, kept it to upright, although it's got more to do with the angle of the bracket that bolt's to the frame, the us spec one has a greater angle and longer arm that lets the bike lean over more making it more stable, I lernt this the hard way as when coming home on the wightlink car ferry one time with original stand, sea a bit rough, got a call over loud speaker to go to car deck, to find bike on it's side, not happy :angry. Since fitting us spec one, rougher sea's not a problem, sorted.:doug
