Side Stand / Angle of Dangle

If like me you've fitted a ride height adjustable shock and increased the ride height and you've dropped the forks a few rings through the yokes, you may also now found your bike sits at a very large (and worrying) lean angle when sat on the side stand.

I got to the stage where I was carrying a bit of wood with me to make sure the bike was a lot more upright and didn't fall over. But now I think I've found a simple "Plug & Play" cure courtesy of my friends on the Riders Site here in the UK

It's called a Honda FireBlade stand. And I think that all the blades from 04-07 have the same stand, mine was from an 06 model (check first before parting with your money of course)

The beauty of this stand is that it justs swaps straight over, even the Aprilia cut-out switch fits perfectly. It took me about 10mins to do the swap.
The only downside is that the stand now fouls the exhaust but it's still under pressure from the spring so shouldn't bang about, as soon as I can find a heatproof tape or something similar I'll fit it

If you have this problem, this is an easy and quick fix and my stand only cost £25 delivered from the Blade shop (as a nice bonus it was in "as new" condition as well)

Great post. Cheers Falco9

I've heard of others fiddling with Gixxer stands, but if this is a straight swap, it has the nod.:yes

If you come with a more elegant solution to the exhaust fouling, it would also be worth mentioning as it evolves.

This would make a good sticky for the "How-to" forum BTW.:megaphone
