Shotguns for early Mille/Tuono

The sound will come gents, the sound will come to be honest, I only had time to do the quick polish and fit and start up yesterday, and you have to remember I spent Sunday riding with the "other" set up and so my ears need a bit of time to re-adjust. Sounded quite deep on tickover and a blip here and there, but hoping to get out later to try it out and see how it sounds when it comes on pipe so to speak. I'll try and get a video/sound clip up.

I've got to say, i'm looking forward to seeing it Seb! :biggrin any ideas how much longer before you have it ready for painting?

Hi Sprocker! As I said in the other post, my friends claim I have an exhaust OCD ??? Always been the same with most of the bikes i've had. I can't give you any news on the shotguns yet as I haven't managed to get out and ride, but maybe this evening if the weather sorts itself out.

I think most who've read the posts know that I am extremely chuffed with the GP can, and Lee built it exactly to my specs, hence the internal outlet is the biggest he can do which is 76mm, which is set back from the external outlet of 100mm. I jumped at having the can made for a number of reasons and i've got to say it has proved to tick the box of every one of those reasons. One of them being, where else do you know that for the money you can have something built pretty much to exactly the specs you choose? The videos i've posted really can't translate the sound enough. One of my other passions is Hot Rods/American classics and probably the closest I can describe the sound to is the rawness of an open headered V8, which is why i'd never ride the bike with it fitted before 10 in the morning or 8 at night as it is feckin raucous :doug It literally makes people stop and turn, and one described the roll off noise being closest to hearing something like a TVR on full tilt.

Put it this way, on Sunday on a ride out with 3 friends, one with a VFR800 with 4 MV style race cans, a Fireblade with a Scorpion pipe, and a Speed Triple with Viper cans, all three had started their bikes in Swanage where we had stopped for a cuppa, and when I then started the RSV, literally the place came to a stop, and yes, you'd have been hard pressed to hear the other bikes over the top.

If I was going to have one built by Lee for general use, then i'd probably go for a 50-60mm internal outlet with a 90mm external outlet. I'd guess that this would tone it down to just above the louder side of say the Akra.

I got the shotguns from Seb because it was such a great deal (cheers again Seb :thumbup) and like I say, I love the looks of the older style 500GP two stroke twin stacked cans.

Horses for courses really! I've got swapping the cans over down to just over 5 minutes, so it's not like it is really a ball ache to do :eatcorn
