Hi Brooksy

Not long mate about 4 months,

never owned a vtwin before ive always had inline 4s ,
been out on her about 8 times now and rearly enjoying the ride.
Taking a bit of getting my head around the short shifting , but getting there.

Just debating at the moment what gearing to go with , she is running a 15 front and 42 rear at the moment ,
not sure yet if that is a bit low , great fun though

i have noticed alot of members on her run with a 16/42 any advice would be greatfully appriciated ,

this looks like a good forum .

good to speak to you dude

need some piccies gav dude :yes not sure on gearing for the gen 1 mate but sure someone on here will advise :thumbup

Posting some pics soon mate.

She is in dock at the moment having some new fork seals , brake pads , service , chain , sprockets , and new rubber.

ready for spring , summer and the iom TT

Happy days :thumbup

Gav, I think the standard fir the Tuoldo is 17/42. So yer 15/42 might not suit yer.

Saying that, there are some that run 16/44. :wheelie

Yes 16/44 here, spot on :thumbup

I thought there were reasons you couldn't go to a 15 on a Gen1?

Think its time to have a bit of a play and change some sprockets.
Ive ordered a few different sizes from the bay today so should be fun.

Any ideas where to start as i have no experiance with v twins , i like fast road riding the occasonal mono action
and the odd track day.

I have learnt that unlike a inline 4 just because the gearing has been lowered it dose not nesecerly make it a faster bike,
due to where the max tourqe is in the rev range.

I have spoke with andy at DK Motorcycles and he claims that his 03 racing edition will pop the front wheel of the ground in
1st 2nd 3rd and 4th of the throttle

Mine seems to do this only in 1st and 2nd .

Do we think this may be down to the gearing or not ? and do all tuonos lift there heads in 3rd and 4 th on the power ?

Gav:dunno

Go 16/44 min, mine would lift in the first two gears before I got it chipped now it lifts in third. You don't have tae short shift min these engines like to be revved

Hi slayer

I shall have to change the rev limiter then mine cuts in at 9.5k set by previous owner.

This still seems like short shifing to me i have come from a 1000 agusta.

What is yours set on ?

I don't think you can change the limit, but you can change the point at which the light flashes to tell you to change up. Need to change mine back to where I normally have it (10.5k) as it went into the garage recently and they flattened the battery. This resets the clocks to km/h and change light back to 6k.

new sprockets have landed 16/44 it is cheers guys i will let you know how i get on.
I have found out tonight it has an open air box and it is also running an after market race can so i think i need to sorce a chip to suit.

It looks like the standard chip is still fitted

Is this just a fit and play operation ?
they look very delicate

Cheers Gav
