bit of a daft one, 2010 bike, running 15/42, pcv, open air box, quick throttle and danmoto gp cans. had the bike on a dyno a few times after i'd changed bits along the way and although things improved nothing every felt massively different, even did a couple of back to back runs with yoshi cans on and the only difference was they got rid of the 5,500-6,500 dip but hardly noticeable when riding it.

anyway after trying to tweak one of the headers a bit by pushing on one of the cans the carbon eventually started to break up around the rivets so the other day i decided to sort it out by cutting the cans down by about 6" and re packed them a bit.

only done about 40 miles on it since then but the seat of the pants dyno has noticed the biggest jump in performance yet!! even being sceptical it's got a fair bit more poke.

will be able to get it on the same dyno i've used before but not for a while so can't compare it that way just yet.

so is it just me or can chopping cans down make much of a difference?

Not all cans do whit they say on the tin mucker

Will the valve seats and stems cope. ???

I chopped down my ackras a few years back, you DO get that feeling that it's going better, but it's all in the head mate.

thing is i'm not convinced it's all in my head?? have had that feeling of 'oh **** that's not 2nd it's 1st gear' when i've opened it up a few times when i've been bimbling along.

just annoying that i can't get it back on the same dyno for a while.

It is possible the shorter cans have made a difference, as Aldo says not all cans do the same job, some better than others.
There was a post a while back about a set that made a T run like *****, think it was shortened race cans?
I've got carbon can co's on mine & taking the baffles out does make a difference to nid range.
