Shock through handlebar ???

Ok guys, im certain im not imagining this now as pretty much every time i ride the bike i feel a shock through the left handlebar, a bit like grabbing an electric fence. Not a massive shock but enough for me to think 'what the hell was that' ... ive got renthal grips on and obviously wear gloves so this is a bit concerning. All my electrics are earthed properly (extra earths run in various places) but im thinkin the only thing on the bike that could put this kind of voltage out would be the HT leads. anyone heard of this before or have any ideas? my first port of call will be checking the leads arent touching the frame anywhere but if they were, would i be able to feel it ? its always on the left grip, sometimes feel it maybe 4 or 5 times in a ride. its wierd ... any ideas ?

CRIKEY:eek:

your right the only thing with enough voltage to do that is your coils.

it could be static, do you get shocks from cars etc. some people seem more prone to it than others?

could it be a nerve in your hand or arm?

I wouldnt say i get shocks from car doors etc, i have had a few in the past but thought it was just the car. Its funny because my left wrist has had quite a battering at the start of the riding season but its just due to not riding over winter. gotta re-acclimatise to the heavy clutch. it is a very valid point though mate ! Im 90% sure its an actual electric 'pulse' if you will. surely though if it was electrical i would sometimes get more than one 'jolt' ... but its always just the one every now and then. i didnt feel it today whilst out however ... gonna pop the tank up tomorrow when it rains and have a look to make sure it isnt that. thanks for the idea about a nerve in my hand though, i never considered that. i may adjust the lever position slightly. cheers

try leaving the bike run for a bit then put your right hand on the left bar?? see if you get shocked then??? maybe even try it sock/shoeless??

thanks for the suggestion john ! i will try that ! It is DEFINATELY an electrical shock ... i felt it a few times yesterday when i went out on it. Just a little more info, it seemed to only do it when getting up to temperature and shocked me when i had just changed into next gear, let clutch out and simultaneously got on the gas (just as the next gear engaged, like a volt spike or something)
I havent had tank up yet as im back on shift but i took side panels off and found where the HT leads from left hand side coils curl under lhs frame spar are touching the frame. they havent worn through but maybe its worn a tiny bit out of insulation and any big surge is just shoving a random one up the shortest route (lhs frame spar, to fork, to clutch lever) hmmm
when i get to the bottom of it i will post it up, ive never heard anything like this !

after reading this back to myself, surely the spark would die the instant it jumps to the frame (earth) ?? now im really confused :(
