Shiver for my wife

My wife will try the Aprilia Shiver next Friday (our dealer has one to lend :biggrin). She has now a Yamaha R6R'06 and tired to run always at tens of thousands of revs now wants to "return to the twins" (she also onwed a Ducati).

Does anyone tried the shiver? whant do you think? (we were thinking on the Tuono but the shiver is lighter and less bulky for her)

Order already done and... two days left to take a ride with the shiver.

we took a short ride and through a few bends on the outskirts last friday afternoon. My wife felt comfortable on the shiver, the bends seemed to pass through more easily when viewed from the rear on the mille, everything was like no effort was at all needed to run faster on the shiver. Not enough time to try myself but her impressions were good. Pros would be comfort (handlebar position and soft seat), engine feeling, realtime acceleration, nice sound and looking, price, etc. Cons would be weight (more than 200kg), braking (a radial pump would be appreciated on just a '08 model) and a rare throttle response only at low revs (under 2000) maybe due to an unadjusted dealer bike (which for sure has been passed through many hands over this month) :biggrin. in spite of having her fleece ordered and coming :biggrin, she'll probably reach a decison once the Yam is sold. :thumbup

Was that a brand new Shiver you guys took out for a ride? If so, maybe she needs some break in time. Ah reading again you say it's been ridden a bit. I'm sure it's a great bike... just needs some fine tuning and attention. =]
 
well ridden for an hour is enough to twist the throttle of the shiver we tried ("registered" on November) and see acceleration is not continuously increased until 2000rpm is reached, it was like a gap was thereunder... as I said it is a particular case and probably this specific unit needs to be fine tuned... no doubt that it's a great bike (she's quite sure to buying it)
 
Sounds like it does need some fine tuning :confused, get it checked out before you part with the pennies sergi then take it out again :yes nothing like riding a brand new or newish bike but to get the full benefit it has to be set up right and for a specific rider :thumbup. Enjoy
 
Aprilia's dealer said that it had to do with the electronic fly by wire throttle feeling but she was not convinced at all since it's the same system her current R6r fits (and the yam doesn't has such a sluggish acceleration under 2000rpm). Again, sure the test unit she drove needed a fine tune.
 
yeeee.. she's got the Shiver at last. We went again to the dealer for testing the Shiver one more time. Ana wanted to be sure that it'll be "her" bike and not to repeat the mistake as with the yam. After a short rideout with the test unit (which again had the gap when twisting the throttle), dealer told us that the bike needed the map update. Ana was convinced and we decided to buy it as everything was Ok for her.

With everything Arranged last Monday, the bike was not ready on Friday so we were a little bit angry with the dealer who wasn't capable of having the bike in five days. Aprilia's representative was there at that moment in the shop and commented us that they can lend us the test bike for the weekend. We accepted and made a 200 km rideout. Ana confirmed that the throttle gap was effectively eliminated and now everything was 100% perfect.

We went this Tuesday to change the bike for the new one (black) and made a 450 km rideout on Wednesday. I like this bike, how it looks and how it works. Everything is made easy with the shiver.

Although unoficially at the moment, it seems that Shiver maps will be updated such that 3 will be available and changeable by the user :eek:

Very nice looking bike. Enjoy them both and keep a close eye on them. =] Anyone know off hand how much the Shiver weighs?
 
Sergi, I read either this week or last in MCN that a map update had been released and sorted the fueling issue.

Hope your wife enjoys it :thumbup
