Brings back a few memories, when I lived in Gosport many years ago there used to be two bike dealerships within a couple of hundred yards on Forton Rd, Harry Gill's was one ,and I think the other may have been Bennetts ??? or was that a car garage on Stoke rd?

Are any of those still going after all this time?

Also used to have Rafferty & Newmans in Fareham as I recall, home of the Wildcat.

Not that anyone gives a s**t but I just remembered the shop up the road from Harry Gills was ........... Everetts.

See the alzheimers hasn't totally got me yet..........Eeeer, what was the question again ?

Hello mate I live in Gosport as well and got griff round mine in August and a few of the other lads off here came round. A good day in all and he is the only man I will let touch my bike.
You don't live at the start of the one-way system into town near the hospital do you:dunno
I'm not a stalker but have seen an RSVR parked in there when passing a couple of times.
If you fancy a run out at the weekend some of us off here meet up for a ride out.

Ian I think the shop you are on about on Forton road is Dimmons which is between Kwik fit and the vets. One of the mechanics there is Dave and he is a top bloke as well but no Griff. The other bike shops here are Ridge Farrants but only go to him when I have an emergency MOT or something or Trevor Popes (KTM dealer) seriously considered the RC8 from there and now I keep looking at the super motos:devious

Well I left Gosport in late '69 and the one place I would have bet on NOT still being there was Ridge Farrants.

Used to be a dirty, overcrowded, one man shop in a converted house on Gordon rd? It was an embarrassment to be seen going in there, I used to get sent round there from the Motor Mechanics class at Privett road school when we ran out of Red Hermatite or something equally mundane.

Harry Gills were Norton and Llambretta agents and used to be on Forton Rd opposite a petrol station and about inline with Queens rd ,Everett's were a couple of blocks down on the right heading for town opposite a timber yard, they were Triumph and BSA as I recall.

I could quite fancy an RC8R as well, done the Supermoto thing with a CCM R30,mad as a box of frogs, but the seat was like sitting astride a five bar gate and I used to get about 50 miles before looking a petrol station. OK as a second bike tho'
