Hi, posted on here some the time back about the low fuel level light not coming on leading to me running out of fuel whilst out riding. Decided to try sort the problem out yesterday. I thought before I opened up the tank to maybe replace the fuel low level sensor I would check the wiring to the tank to see if the that circuit was intact. Whist doing that I managed to briefly short out two wires! Now I thought fuses were fitted to melt and prevent further damage occurring but none of the fuses have blown. I had a bike, apart from the one fault that was fully running etc but now I only have half a bike working and now not running. Have I caused damage to the instrument panel or maybe the ECU ? I read a thread I think on one of the American forum where a chap had similar problems with his bike that I now have with mine. Ignition off I now have the head lights on when the low beam button is out. Ignition on, nothing at all on the dash, side lights, brake lights and horn. Any thoughts on what I have Fu*ked up would be appreciated, I just hope it's not something expensive like the dash or ECU I've ruined. Is it AF 1 that is highly recommended on here? Just looked at my last two MOTs to see what mileage was on the clock before the melt down surprised to see that in one year the bike had only done 667 miles! Must get out more dammed weather!

Sorry to hear that mate. The AF1 forum is very good with many helpful members, give them a shout if no-one on here can help.
Too much for me

Tis a shame as I was going to treat her to a new set of tires and sprocket upgrade and chain but naughty girl not now.:bawling

sorry to hear of your dilemma and problems , I may be able to help slightly as I have a spare gen 2 post ,07 ecu if its of interest PM me .

Good evening, quick update on my part working bike. Decided to finally get the dead bike picked up and transported down to the font of Tuono knowledge that is Grif. Bike was being delivered whilst I was riding down on my B em to tell Grif what was wrong with the bike and a few other things that I wanted sorting. Took me 3 hous to get there as I got some what lost! Having sorted that out a few days Grif phoned to tell me what the problem was, it appears that I had fried the PCB in the clocks when I caused the short circuit. Grif had put a clock off another bike and the bike came to life. For future reference,a fter I had caused the short all that functioned where the brake lights, fuel pump, indicators and the main light came on when it felt liked it and the the starter and engine wol dnot work either. Picked the bike up to day and rode home 50 miles in the monsoon weather, somewhat pissed off as I never take the old girl out in the rain normally, infact this is probably the longest journey that I have done on it. Had Grif fit a new chain and changed the gearing with a different sprocket combination. Have to say that lowering the gearing has made it much smoother around town. Excellent! I think I now have a 15/42 combination. Great to be back on the old girl after all this time might well keep it now with it's low mileage new clock. LOL! Cheers.

Glad you got things sorted out. I too dropped a tooth on my primary gear and love the results.

I'm on 15/42 now seems to be more in the groove now , no need to change down 2 gears now for easy acceleration/overtake, 2 gears down now for taking off etc ha ha .

glad its awe sorted min and a lesson tae some nae tae meddle wi things maybe...and 15/42 def is the way tae go. Fairly sorts oot the low roond toon hiccups, ramps up the acceleration n wheelin poppin ability while doesn,t lose too much aff the top end ( nae that ye need tae tak a T beyond 145mph often!)
