tried to get the seat off my t last night and found one of the seat screws just spinning round as if stripped. any way had to drill the head off the bolt to remove the seat. anyway all looked well in the insert in the frame, bit of copper grease seat back on and tighten her up ( not to tight ) alls well dont know why it were spinning ???? . any way check em out cos itll be a bit of a bastard in the middle of nowhere and you need to get the seat off :dunno

Oh great! --another issue to deal with. Well, out to the building supply dealer for some heavy duty Velcro, I guess. They couldn't just have had a latch release like everyone else. Can't wait to hear that ripping sound as I tear the seat away from the frame. --guess it will be drowned out by the laughter of the other bikers at the local watering hole as they fondle their billet bits whilst I explain this problem to them.

BMW finally standardized their switchgear for directionals after, what, 75 years of, as Sinatra sang, "I did it my way".

Someone has overtightened the bolt. We have this problem with Liz's bike, the rivnut in the sub-frame is spinning, after one service the eejit in the dealer overtightened the screw..

To undo the bolt remove the rear seat or cowl, and use a longish flat bladed screwdriver under the offending fastener to stop it rotating, put a socket on the bolt and it should come undone, it might take a couple of trys to sort.

:eekwhen were on the subject of bolts spinning,i went to take the allen screw out the left top radaitor/carbon deflectors that has the screw into the top of the radaitor and the dam captive nut is turning in the top rad rail and theres no way into it,(only 600miles on the bike):bawling
anyone else had this problem and what did you do to fix it:dunno
after this i went round the whole bike and emptyed a complete tin of acf10 on it(think the only part of the bike that never got covered is the tyres) :rolleyes this bike has never seen rain and only had one wash so not thinking much of that happening
throw your thoughts lads
:cheers

thanks for that v60paul nice to know if it happens again. hopefully not

The only cure is to fit seat pins, but the only place I know that sells them is aprilia.me and they have just closed shop.

I don't if that's where they came from, but my bike had the 2 posts with cotter pins setup when I got it. Same for the front end of the gas tank. Handy. :cheers
