Well took the T out for its first blast today.

Only 20 mins riding but enough to get a taste for what its like, after meeting my mate at his house to see his T factory, pulled the bars back as they were a bit far forward for me (much better after), in relation to the SD here are my + and -.

Tuono Negatives:

-Back brake non existant (and I use it)
-Dash mists up
-Suspension is gash, rear bottoms out too easily, front is a bit plush as it stands.
-Does not sound as good with open Akras.
-Side stand needs to be longer.
-windblast compared to the SD.

Tuono Positives:

-Oh the power, pulls like a mo fo, where the SD lags between 100-140 it keeps pulling.
-Dash functions are good.
-Fits me better, feels like your in the bike rather than on top.
-Gear box is better than my SD.

Wont comment on the handling as was not pushing it, and the suspension needs work, its come with pretty brand spanking Pirelli Angels and used to Racetecs.

Overall was a nice ride, will see if has that appeal that kept my attention with the SD for so long, its definately going to be a weapon once its sorted, going to check the suspension settings are the same as from the factory :yes.

Apart from the power, my first opinion is the SD is a better bike as stock compared to the R, lets see if if can compare after fettling :thumbup.

Course it is...thats why i want one lol...or if funds allow a duc streetfighter ...i will see what summer brings lol

You just got a little taster for what its like today Dan, I'm sure you will like it a lot more when you have tinkered with it and the better weather comes along so you can push it harde. I have to say mate, I think you got a bargain there, looks good in the blue as well.

No doubt T, shopping list rear shock, suspension set up, race mask, longer stand, air filter, R&G uppers and of course sticky rubber!

Definitely look at getting the stand Dan, money well spent to reduce the risk of it falling over

If I dont, I will just find some properly rolled tarmac instead :yes

Good to hear you've sussed the Tuono's 'character', all those faults sound familiar. The good news is that they are all easily solved. Below is what I did:

-Back brake non existant (and I use it):- use the KZmille method of bleeding, it works. Search the AF1 forum for the how-to. Cost; nowt
-Dash mists up:- they need venting. Search the AF1 site for the how-to which I contributed to. Cost; nowt
-Suspension is gash, rear bottoms out too easily, front is a bit plush as it stands:- I fitted an ohlins shock. Cost; £200. Front is fine when properly set up.
-Does not sound as good with open Akras:- swap for summat else. I've got cored cans which sound great but are crazy loud, I run them with baffles TBH
-Side stand needs to be longer:- I fitted a 2007 fireblade stand. It's a straight swap. Cost; £20
-windblast compared to the SD:- I fitted an Ermax screen. Also looks the bollocks. Cost; £35

Simples

Dan, i sold my dearly beloved im mean i loved it SD , got a factory prilly, at first i was pretty unsure as to what the hell i have done SD is a really nasty aggresive bike whooooo ace! fluffy throtel instant tourque handles as sweet as hell, i like that motorcross riding position. well i now really like prilly its slick refined smooth handles bloody great, maybe the olins makes a real difference?? not sure as i havent ridden a r at any great speed, yes clocks bloody mist doh, and i also dont reckon it sounds as nice as SD, but its really growing on me the more i ride it im glad i got it now..........still would get another SD mind:yes but would have to keep prilly lol they are both fantasic bikes best nekeds out there i reckon:thumbup

Freestyler, never said the bike was bad, just some first impressions and needs fettling, I could bottom out the rear shock just by pushing down on the seat.... and when you push the front down it extends and goes back down slightly then sets it'self.

To buy list, rRear shock, maybe a bigger screen, suspension dialed in, think it will be great bike, the grunt that I crave and im sure if I drop the forks a bit the bike will handle well.

Im happy with my purchase :)

Evlin, glad to see you made the change and enjoy the bike, TBH the SD was a bling moneypit! haha

Dan, have alook on " normal colour frames " post and see what Wiskin says about the rear shock. I think he just may be wrong...

Just took a look at the thread, not got round to checking the settings on my bike yet to make sure no ones messed with it, im not rushing into a purchase unless I get one at a good price, will try the sport settings and see what happens, I think the main issue with the OEM unit is that it only has 25mm of travel on the rear.

I know nothing about Wiskin, but I would suggest he needs to ride a Ohlins unit to compare before and after. Everyone thinks there suspension is great till they get it properly set up for example, and then they are like "wow sooo much better". Agree skill can overide bling and performance parts any day of the week.

I ride pretty bumpy B roads and witht he suspension as it is will be a damn bumpy ride!

Dan ,iff you got the hand book with the bike ,and the shock is set up to standed settings I am not sirprised you can just push it down , Its an amolcion shock so just one scrou for compreshon and reabownd , I ran mine at 12'clicks out insted of 25'STD and two full tirns of preload on the spring clock ways to stiffen it up Free sag 10,mm , Kept me out of truble untill I swoped it out for an ohlans shock , Standed shock is fine for pudiling arownd , but wen you ride them Like we do ,they just get hot the oil thins out and then you end up with no damperning , Aprilia recomend for track yous to fit the Ohlans .Iff you do a spirited days rideing on the standed shock ,it just gets progresiveley wers as the day go's on iff you are getting out for a spirited 200'mile runarownd , what dosent help as well they get cooked buy the rear Header pipe as well .
