Ordered 2 new tyres yesterday they are going to be in on Tuesday. So id thought id be ok till then! Only two more journeys to my work 60 miles in total.
Came of the Arden roundabout on the A82 Heading for Faslane on my 05milli R Beautiful morning, as I say to myself I could just open it up and see what she can do. I then remind myself my tyres are ****** so ill just stick to the speed limit. As I turn the corner I see the fuzz about a mile ahead letting all the cars go by. As I approach at 60mph im pulled in. 60 bucks for the front tyre and 3points. 25 bucks for my garage to pick me up as I was not allowed to ride my bike any further.
There were over 10 cops on FJR’s and BMW bikes Heading for the main bike spots on the west of Scotland and I was lucky enough to be there first customer of the day!
I was shocked to hear there were 5 bike deaths in central Scotland in two days of sunshine about a fortnight ago. They also told me that every biker they came across today was getting stopped regardless!
As I waited for my lift I heard a bike tramping down the road thinking to my self some poor ****** was about to get done as they pointed there guns at him a copper pulled in on his marked FJR they were all taking the piss and pointing at his speed on the gun.
Cant help but think its double standards!

I hate the bill....fu**ing nanny state.

My wife hates the bill, 4 points and a £200 fine for her first accident in 9 years driving when she drove in the back of another car at 20 mph....her fault, but no one injured. A bit heavy.
My daughters hates the police after having 4 phones nicked and they do nothing. They can trace the whereabouts, but its not worth the expense. All they need to do is trace and prosecute a few thieves and the market in nicked phones would dry up. Luck they don't apply the same rule to murder.
They harass my son and his friends on their bmx's and guess what he hates them too.

The only people they seem to prosecute are those with a number plate and a post code.

********.

Well said.:thumbup

And they wonder why??
I've worked for them before (not as a rozzer mind) and I now have no respect whatsoever after what I used to see and hear....

Same here, we work quite closely with them on occasion and they give me no reason to change my (low) opinion of them whatsoever. Don'y get me wrong there MUST be a few decent guys working for them but those guys are definately the (VERY SMALL) minority.

My 2 best mates are rozzers , but they are quite decent donut eating , bike riding pissheads and disagree totally with the double standards and hypocracy.

As for bike death's maybe if the papers reported the real reasons behind those deaths and actually prosecuted the people that caused the deaths we might start getting a better balance.
In Essex 2007 there were 219 motorcycle related deaths reported.............actually 21 were mopeds (incorrect clothing/helmets), 4 were purely down to the riders and nothing else the rest (thats 194)were all down to car drivers of those only 11 were correctly reported as being the "victum" of a bad driving by another motorist.

But invariably the govermment has an agenda that they are enforcing through the police to rid the UK of motorcyclists , number of deaths is just simply an excuse in a long list.

I mean when was the last time a small license plate killed someone ??

The two Bike coppers I deal with are good guys. They would rather educate you than nick you. Unless you are taking a bend at 122 with your gloveless kid on the back that is................

I guess different forces have different priorities. But loosing 5 bikers over a week end is bound to prompt some sort of response though, dont you think?

Sorry, but If your tyres are illegal what do you expect them to do, turn a blind eye.

This is less a dig at police staff and more a dig at the system... they have a tough job etc. nah, it's just a rant...

My flat mate wakes up to the sound of the alarm ('07 675) going off at three in the morning on a sunday night. She rushes to the window to see her flashing indicators disappear into the back of white van. They've cropped the lock that was around the lamp post, chuked it in the van and made off with with her beloved Trumpet. Before they can get to the bottom of the road the police operator has answered the phone. She hasn't seen the plate but it's the only car on the road, it's a bloody big white van and you can hear the bike alarm. Operator says 'did you get the plate', she says 'no, but I know which road it's on (ie: where it's heading - can only be one way and that route is down the road from the police station and past a casualty department. there's police all over the place, so I'm sure you can stop them'. The snotty reply is, 'sorry madam, it's not a priority, I'll give you a crime number'. To her knowledge the operator took no further action.

She was livid that the bike got nicked but tried to understand that with guns, knife crime etc, a stolen bike probably wasn't a priority (over stretched etc) but as you can imagine she was also more than a little miffed that they didn't even try or at least radio the cars in the area. White van with three men in it at three in the morning. there are not that many.

The real piss-take and the motivation for this rant came when the police called with the good news. 'Madam, great news we've found your bike. We guess the thieves got spooked as a dog walker has reported finding your bike in the park'. The bike was on it's side stand, seat cowl levered off, no other damage, left in the local park. As you'll know this almost never happens and she couldn't beleive her good fortune. Then the police man opened his mouth again... "All that's left now is for you to pay the recovery charge" £150 if memory serves.

No one phoned to say they'd found it until it had been recovered so why on earth should she have had to pay because they'd found it and put it somewhere safe for her?

Sorry for the rant, I think I'm just rattled because the Astra behind me at the lights yesterday was a cop car. the rozzer in the passenger seat shouted me and beckoned me with a beep and a patronising finger motion; i couldn't hear him so he made me back up, crossing the centre line putting me in line with the oncoming traffic in order that i could speak to him through the side window of his car. he wanted to remind me that the green box i was in was just for cycles.

oh and while I'm at it.... Boat race yesterday, three coppers spent an hour telling people not to 'touch, climb or go near' a perfectly good four foot wall for health and safety reasons. Absolutely hilarious. We were at a bend on the path and it was reasonably narrow so every two seconds someone new who hadn't seen or heard the last 'criminal wall climber' would get chastised by the long arm of the law. Every few seconds another unwitting 'criminal' would find themselves on the wrong side of the law. Watching three coppers run the length of this wall everytime someone got on it at the other end was probably one of the highlights of the boat race. It was a like a dom joly sketch. in the end, quite exhausted by their unsurmountable task, they exclaimed that anyone seen so much as touching the wall, would be arrested. Priceless.

I was appalled at the report in the papers today of the police preventing neighbours (trying) to rescue a woman and her children from a burning house. The woman her husband and her children died in the fire. The reason.......health and safety. The head of the constabulary commended the actions of the officers, saying it was an effort to prevent further deaths!!!!. At one time the police would have been fist into a burning building, demonstrating real courage, rewarded in turn by the respect of the public. I have heard the same excuse in a recent drowning where the police stood and watched. There is a duty of care for all employers and no doubt the police have been briefed in this course of action........but it sucks big time and erodes the pubic respect they once commanded.
Shame.
