Morning chaps, went to the petrol station this morning and filled the tank of me 2000 model Mille, I filled it to about 10mm from the filler cap, walked in and payed and as I'm walking over to the bike I notice fuel just poring out of the overflow pipes, I manage to place a bottle over the end of them and after about half an hour of leeking they slowely seem to be slowing down, I'd say at least a litre has came out ? Any ideas why ? Bike starts and runs awesome ?
Cheers

Were you sitting on the bike holding it upright when you filled it up & then put it on it's side stand to go & pay :dunno should only fill it up to the top when it's on side stand. The only other thing I can think of was that if the bike was really hot & the fuel tank was empty it may contract when you filled it with cold fuel, but that's clutching at straws :eatcorn

It's leeking a lot to be honest it's probably lost about a litre allready and looks like it's still going, the other week I put a 10a with no trouble, very odd

The overflow pipe runs internally through the tank, maybe that's cracked

It's comming out of both of the pipes, am thinking there's many a fault with the fuel pump ? Possibly ?

Its quite common for both the overflow and vent pipes to fracture either at the very bottom or the very top.....it's tank off, pump out and replace both lines (metal tank) , plastic tank its a whole lot mor painful i'm afraid.

I've just cut the damaged bit off and poped a bolt into the end on the line until the weekend, the two lines that exit the bike is one of those a fuel tank breather hose and the other a drain plug one which allows rain water to exit the bike ?
