how can I tell if my rear subframe is suitable for pillions? I believe early RSVR's had a different subframe. I went and bought pillion pegs and grabrail(seat still to be found) but then read I may also need a new subframe.:dunno

ok...i take it we are talking 98-03 rsv..:dunno

.if it has holes for footpegs both sides you have a dual seat subframe....

another check is to take off the seat pod and see where the subframe stops if its just behind the rider its a single seat version...

if its a dual seal it should extend right under the seat pod and tthe lock mechanism should bolt onto the subframe:thumbup

if you do have a single seat subframe keep your eyes peeled they do come up at reasonable prices...i bought 2 last year for £25 each...as for the pillion seat again patience..bought 2 for 25-35 quid each :doug

to swap it takes approx 2-3 hours...tank off, rear bodywork off...just take your time ...good luck:thumbup

cheers rrb. just got back and checked the bike. looks like I already have the dual subframe already. Mines a 2000 model. looks like this may have been standard as the previous owner had the bike from a few hundred miles old and he never did the conversion. Just need a seat for it now!

If you need a rear seat, keep your eyes peeled.
They dont make them new any more and second hand are like rocking horse poo!

I just had top pay £77 for mine on ebay, but I didn't want to wait any more. The cheapest I've seen on ebay was £50 but I missed it doh!

I checked loads of breakers and drew a blank.. . . good luck
