RSVR '05 No start, Red triangle, immobilizer flashing

Anyone got a clue? I was just waiting for a mate to get his helmet on, RSV idling. It just died. So turned off ignition, waited a couple of mins, turned it on, fuel pump primes, all the lights come on then off, rev counter up to limit then back to zero. Red triangle on, immobilizer flashing every second. Engine spins but doesn't fire up. No EFI appears. Did a fault check, shows 0. Arse.

All panels off, checked all the connectors, sidestand switch, tilt switch, all appears ok. Checked in the manual, and apparently it could be the wrong key code. A bit odd as 5 mins before it was ok.

Anyone else had this? Doin my head in.

Any help appreciated.

Hi again, just an update. The immobilizer flashing was caused by me being a bit of a ****. Whilst checking all the connectors, I left one half connected under the left front fairing, so now down to red triangle, fuel pump primes, engine spins, got a good spark, still not firing. Undid the fuel line to the injector rail, fuel spews out under pressure, so I assume that's ok.

Any thoughts?

It's not just flooded is it? Maybe leave plugs out overnight then try, apart from that I'd be lost

voltage regulator checked?

Hadn't thought of the regulator, I'll check it tomorrow and let you know. Fingers crossed eh?

Not as far as I'm aware mate

So then . . . . oil pressure switch and voltage regulator checked, both ok, including wiring to ECU. What an arse !!!

Just to let you know - it turns out to be a split in the pipe between the fuel pump and the filter. All appears to be workin the minute, but thanks for the input guys.

It seems I had a similar problem on my 2008 RSV on a trip to Wales this weekend. Rode from London to Wales on Friday, got up on Saturday morning and bike starter would turn over but wouldn't start the engine. Tried pop starting it but road was damp and not enough purchase so the rear just locked up. Tried starting with jumper leads, then disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, still nothing!

Recovery van came, we assumed it was the alarm immobiliser (Datatool!) and an independent dealer agreed to have a look at it. As soon as I wheeled it of the van, I went to show the mechanic what the problem was, it started first time! The garage checked all the connections, put the battery on charge and couldn't find anything wrong with the alarm and confirmed the bike was charging the battery.

He suspected my battery was on its way out, so when it was cold first thing in the morning it didn't have enough juice to start. The engine got flooded after trying a few times, so even when we put the leads on it wouldn't start, and the time sitting in the sun waiting for the recovery van warmed the battery up and gave the engine time for the excess fuel to evaporate, bingo engine started!

However, next morning it started up no problem, but the EFI and low oil light stayed on for about 10 secs, but it ran like a dream all the way back to London.

Any ideas?

I had a similar fault with my 05 rsvr when my speed sensor packed up, try dis-connecting the speed sensor then replace the speed sensor fuse behind the right hand fairing side panel. hope this helps

on behalf of my friend bike.. the triangle light is blinking every time he rev the engine (gear sensor as i recall), so which part shud he looking for? the gear sensor?
