I went to the open day at WheelPower in Raynes park yesterday, to see the new RSV4.
There were a few adverts in MCN and bike press etc... so thought I would pop in, even though I have had a few less than ideal experiences with WheelPower before.
I turned up quite late in the afternoon, there were approximately 7 people in the shop, the RSV4 was outside, and one of the blokes from the shop was wandering around with a beer in his hand.
Sat on the bike, had a poke around and a look at it for approx 5 mins or so.
During this time, no-one from the shop made any attempt to come and speak to me, or show any interest at all in speaking to me about the new bike. :jack
It simply confirms what my own opinion of WheelPower is in relation to their customer service, or complete lack of it. I could have had £15k burning a hole in my back pocket :dunno
In some respects this is a shame as they are less than 1 mile from my house, and if they were any good I would not feel compelled to ride 15 miles or so to Southern Cross for a quality bike shop (albeit no longer official Aprilia dealers). However, I shall continue to espouse the virtues of Southern Cross who are fantastic, and warn everyone I know of avoiding WheelPower like the plague. (I have had my previous Ape worked on them before when they charged me for work which I did not authorise; quote me several different prices for kawaasaki bits - when they were also Kwak dealers; tell me they had items in stock, when they did not and I turned up to collect).
In these lean times, I would imagine that it is companies with professional outlook and good customer service which will survive, whilst those that do not, may go under? I spoke to someone who told me that the previous management had changed, and that they were better, but I'm afraid my experiences do not bear that out.
On the plus side, the RSV4 looks fantastic but is very small (250/400-type proportions).
