Thats a bugger, as I thought that the V4 engine spent mant hours and a couple of hundred thousand K's on the dyno with no problems at all!
I read they had a few **** themselves on a press day and was put down to a a bad batch of con rods I think?
The news seems to be they are recalling a number of factory and R models as a precaution as some engine components may fail, none failed yet.
Our 2 test bikes are not on the list.

i see all 13 of Af1's v4's are in the recall.
That's gotta be a bummer knowing how much Aprilia pay for warranty labour.
It will be con rod related. all the vins are around the batch date of the press day failure.
Too much of a coincidence.

Hey Does any one have the link for the vin numbers of the recall , My RSV4 is one of the early modells??

I believe the dealerships have the database for this information...so, far all owners who have called in the States will have new engines.

Returned to the dealer today.
He told me that he has to open the engine carter to verify the con-rods. So I have to go next Wednesday to inspect the con-rods. If they had the wrong Part Nr he has to change the engine. Thats what he said. I find it strange. Nobody from Aprilia was trying to contact me. Every one, in other country's, where contacted by aprilia and they now exactly witch bikes are affected.
Why they has to open my engine.
Why nobody will publish the VIN numbers?
I saw VIN numbers in France close to my number that where involved also factory's.
Mine #107 someone in france #117.
So I have many questions!!!! maybe I have only to wait????

That is not correct info you have. The vin numbers have been published, you are on the list or not! as i understand it it is as simple as that. I would most certainly not allow my engine to be stripped to take a look at a part number on a conrod.

As a matter of interest (& slightly off topic), does anyone else get a sexy Italian lady ring them up every so often to ask how they're liking their bike? She's rung me twice since i bought mine back in June for a 5 minute Q&A session.

I contact The aprilia Representative Motortricolore in Holland, witch is the representative for BENELUX (Belgium Netherlands an Luxemburg) They told me only want to speak via dealers. I phoned my dealer(where I bought my bike) and he is not aware off the problem.

Tell your dealer to enter you Vin number on the service aprilia site.
All affected bikes will be flagged up on the site if their vin is on the recall list.
There is also full information on the recall on the site so there isn't really any excuse for a dealer to say they don't know what's going on.

Visited a southern dealer this week to take a look at the v4. The guys there very open ref issue and when asked if the 4 bikes i the showroomwere affected they stated 3 were and they were awaiting new engines. When i asked how confident a buyer could be that engines were ok, I was told that aprilia had supplied a list of engine vin numbers to identify affected bikes.

HEEEHAAAAA!!! Mother nature brought us an incredible day to have the first ride on the bike with the new engine. Since it was only in the canyons, I did not feel any difference with the power delivery, other than how great it felt to ride this awesome motorcycle
Thanks again to Amauri/Long Beach Aprilia for taking good care of the bike so quickly (and safety wiring as well)... I'm definitely looking forward to railing this bike on the track soon.
