Hi, I am looking for a nice but doesn't have to be immaculate RSV1000 within striking distance of Cheshire.

Looks like I missed out on a bargain for the yellow one that went on Ebay (and advertised here) for less than £1700 :-(

I am genuine buyer looking for a genuine bike with no mechanical issues. Just bought a 1200 Bandit which I had to return due to a few "problems" so have cash available.

Cheers,
Mike

Welcome.....and good luck in your search for a RSV.
Hopefully you'll find what you want, but do be aware that these bikes are fairly 'hands on' and require looking after to keep them working well.

I don't do a high mileage and am currently rebuilding several 400 Bandits (don't ask!) so as long as its in good running order whilst I finish the first one off a bit of maintenance to keep it in tip top condition isn't a problem to me. Need to check out what to look for when buying a used RSV1000. Can you point me in the direction of some advice. The only thing I am currently vaguely aware of is the sprag clutch ??

The engines themselves are pretty much bulletproof....but don't like being starved of oil.
If you can find your way around a 400 bandit, the RSV should be a breeze.
The sprag is not really a biggie, the main thing is to make sure you fix it as soon as it starts to slip...if left, they have been know to grenade themselves.
The RSV is prone to a few electrical gremlins, all easily fixed, and once you are on top of it, should be more or less trouble free.
Decent battery and optimate are a must...poor batteries really bad for starting/sprag. etc
