Hi all, I wonder if someone could clear something up for me.
I have a 2001 Registered Gen 1 RSV in yellow. After chatting to Ian on here it appears mine is a 98-00 model not the 01 that I had believed.
When I bought the bike the previous owner informed me that the Bike had been lowered and If I wanted to return it to standard I would have to replace the Triangles.
I acquired some only to find that when fitted the Bike sat like a Dragster (Really high at the rear) I checked to make sure I had fitted them correctly and was told I had (Thin bar with arrow on at the top with the arrow facing to the front of the bike).
I measured my dog bone and it is 105mm centre of bolt hole to centre of the other bolt hole. The matching dogbone to the plates I bought is 130mm.
Can anyone tell me why these are different and the lowering plates were twice as thick as the standard ones and made of steel.
Put me out of my misery please!!!:dunno

The dogbone and triangles changed in 2001.
So if you do have a 2000 bike and have purchased 2001 linkage parts or vice versa, they are different.

Was there a reason for this? Which is best?

The later bikes that ran the 130mm dog bone also had a updated shock to match. If your sticking with the original shock I would stick with the correct bone and plates to go with it (106mm)

While we're on it, is the layer shock that much better and what are the differences. Sorry to ask so many questions but that's how ya learn. ;-)

Not a significant jump. It has better adjusters and is a little more compact (smaller nitrogen canister) but mainly it was a re design to match the different linkage ration from the new Linkage setup which allowed it to run a lighter spring etc.
It's supposed to run a little cooler and hence fade less with track use etc but to get a real jump in quality you need the Ohlins from an R model.

So I can't use the later linkage with the earlier shock.
Bugger have just bought them!
How much do you recon a later shock will be? I know the ohlins are expensive.
I will be using it Two up alot so want to get it right.
