hi every one,
i just installed a new sprag clutch, and a solenoid, when i swing the motor im still getting some banging noise from the sprag area?
should i tighten the spring around the sprag?
any help much appreciated,thanks
all the other parts around the sprag were in good nick, not to much wear or anything bad

Hi there,
i replaced mine earlier this year and replaced the sprag with a ducati part but also replaced the sprag housing (aprilia part)as there were some heavy tram lines in there and for the cost (£60), thought i was worth doing.
Thanks
Paul

i shortened the spring and its still slippin,so i think i might put it back together with markings on the sprag ,the housing and the gear to help me figure out which one is slippin, cause it could be either the gear or the housing ,both look in good shape,il try this in the morning, see what happens,

dude did you replace all three parts to the sprag?

if not then this could be the issue, its not a cheap job but the sprag and the housing all are machined to a tolerence if youve mixed them then one part the housing as an example, may have worn past its limits anyway.
hope this helps
Griff

you need to inspect the sprag housing and the sprag gear bronze bush for the correct tolerance. If the sprag housing is worn or the sprag gear bush out of tolerance it will feck up the sprag clutch as quick as look at you.
