RSV- most crashed and stolen bike??

Just a quick message to get peoples opinions on something a Carol Nash broker told me over the phone.
I ran up to barter my renewal and they would only reduce my premium by about £20. When I dug a little deeper as to why I could not get more off as I have 6 years ncb, full security discount, its garaged and I've had no accidents and the 6 points I have are over 3 years old...the guy said I was already on a bespoke scheme/policy which was cheaper than the insurers intended quote. He said the Aprilia RSV is the most crashed and stolen sports bike in the U.K.??

I was quite taken a back.

What's more puzzling is my friend who lives litteraly up the street has an 05 gsxr750 worth another £2000+ on top of my bike, only has 3 yrs ncb, has only been riding 3 yrs and is 3yrs younger ( im 33, hes 30) always gets his insurance £100+ cheaper!

Anyway, has anyone heard of the ape being the most stolen or crashed bike??

Regards Dave

News to me.....afaik, they're not as popular as Japs, i was with Nash for 4 yrs and now with CIA (all insurers are c***s!).....Nash wanted 260 and CIA were 130 for the same cover...wtf!!

There's no way rsv's are more crashed or stolen, just for the sheer amount of jap bikes on the road and lack of rsv's, around west lothian where I live I've only ever seen 1 other rsv, even at the isle of man where there are a million of the same bike they are still few and far between, sounds like the insurer is takin the pish :)

Sounds like he dont know his arse from his elbow by the sounds ? pure maths will make it impossible to be correct ? how many R1`s and Blades are on the roads ? and how many RSV`s ? but think about it this is an insurance company we are talking about, they are all *******s who rip us all off solid, for example ours just robbed me of £75 to change my address !!!

Just proves that ins companies ARE c***s!

Agreed. Money grabbing twats. I'll give you a good 'un. My insurance was due in April so just before that a renewal notice with my (then) current insurer drops through the letterbox. I went with them in 2011 as they were the best price - £110 fully comp. Renewal notice said "We regret to inform you that due to rising costs your premium has risen slightly. To £334. Three-hundred and thirty fecking four quid!!!. How's that for a slight rise????!!!!.

So I jumped onto Tesco insurance checker and found a policy which was exactly the same with another company for £103. Went with them, cancelled the direct debit with the previous lot and called them to inform them. The customer service guy has the bare arsed cheek to say to me "Why didn't you phone us first?. We would have matched that quote".

If you could match it in the first place why try and rip me off you bandits!!!???. I know it's them trying to make a profit but ffs, if it had been a renewal for even £50 of an increase I might have swallowed it and to save hassle with going through the whole details thing again with a new insurer I might have just paid up, but over £300???. Nah...........feck right off.

Go on one of those comparison web sites , go compare etc , I went to renew my insurance with Swintons went from £98 fully comp too £220 !!!!. Went on Go compare and guess waht third cheapest quote for me was Swintons £110 ?. Phoned them straight back with the reference number and the ***** turns round and says that the on line price , so i said fine I'll do it on line , to which he replys " Oh I can do it for you now over the phone ".

Yes it's a total scam I reckon! But I've got to say I've never payed as little as that Eddie!
I could've got mine for 200+ with mce but I've heard too many bad reviews so I tend to pay for a better level of cover with carol Nash or Bennett's etc.
I used to go for the cheapest until I witnessed how well my brother was treated when some knacker.ran into the back of him at a round about. He was with carol Nash and the way it was handled impressed me.

Anyway my belly thinks my throats been cut, time to get up,

That is just a case of some joey in a call centre talking out his arse! They are not privvy to any statistical info like that whatsoever. What a donut.

I was always with CNash until this year. I went from a Gixxer600 to my Ape and the premium rose from £120 to £580! Just chose the cheapest in the end which was £180. CNash are good at claim time I hear but hey, not £400 worth of good!

I've never been with the same insurance company since the 70's. Nothing ever changes, you get a good quote year 1, then it raises to stupid figures. I've got used to ringing around every year to get a reasonable quote. Just how the system seems to work

As I've always said to the brokers over the phone, the unfair part is that I've never claimed on any insurance policy since I was a kid in the company vans years ago so why not punish the people who have claimed and reward the people who don't !?
Apparently last year my premium was going up because of all the natural disasters ie tsunami in friggin Japan!

Reckon I might go cheap and chearful next year....

lol they dont have take the piss

This is BS. I bet if you were riding a different sportbike, they would tell you the same line. Trying to justify their rates i suppose.
