Hi All,

I have just purchased my 1st RSV and my God, where has the Vtwin been all my life!! amazing. anyone who says these don't tank on and handle simply cannot ride a bike! much better than any big bike i have had.

I am wondering though, does anyone know how to adjust the rev limiter (turn it off) the previous owner has set it to 10.5K and could not remeber how he done it. I have the following buttons, A B R C D. I only know that the "R" resets the trip but don't know any of the others. The time clock also needs adjusting but unsure here too. Can anyone tell me what the buttons do as there is no manual. Also it has the Aprilia by datool Red alarm, Two buttons on a key fob can anyone tell me how to put it into and out of service mode? it keeps going off when i try to clean it.

Cheers guys.

best get your self the owners manual cos its all in there. or dive in to a dealer theyll sort it in a couple of mins without charge??

You cant turn the shift light off , the minimum is 6000 . If the alarm is datatool then probably the left button will put it in service mode , its has a different tone . Why would you want the shift light off ??? although 10.5 is a bit high as your out of the max torque range . As i recall its the c button but put a search in and theres a post to tell you what the buttons do .

Floakey, Thanks for the response. The shift light isn't illuminating and the bike is hitting the pre set limiter at 10.5 whilst still accelerating. I am after removing/adjusting this limit to 12k (redline). I shall look into down loading the details that "apostraphe" has kindly given me. i shall look at the alarm as it drives me mad.

Cheers

I might be wrong but...

it's only the gear change light that is user adjustable. The actual rev limit is not user adjustable but it may be possible to change it using another chip. Standard chip setting is 10500 limit on your bike I think. Also, as someone else pointed out, max torque is at less that 10500.

Rob :)

I may have to invest in a chip and pc then. Does your renegade airbox make much diff? When it comes in for a strip/clean and the extras go on i am going to change the sprocket ratios along with chain. Any further recommended performance mods? I am going through the usual visuals ie indicators rearsets probolts etc... maybe a bit of carbon but unsure of the best perforamance bits. It has a tiny little moto gp system (extremly loud even wit baffle in).

cheers

Check the sprockets you have on but defo do the -1 on the front and +2 on the rear makes round the town a hell of allot easier and does'ny have make it pull you will lose about 15mph off the top but you don't need that anyhoo ,thats best bang for buck don't get sooked into beleiving the rest too much air filter system and good setup is about it all really, the chips and powercommanders will clean up the throttle and make it nice and proggresive but you wont gain a massivve amount of horse power oh and my Gen 2 was set at 10500 as this was the peak power on the dyno maybe the gen1 are slightly different ,but anyhoo enjoy the bike m8 and i hope you fall in love wi it like the rest of us (even tho mine is away noo)and fingers crossed for your first winter lay off.....

I'm quite new to the RSV Mille too. I bought mine in October 2010.

I'm not sure how much difference the Renegade airbox makes as I bought my Mille with that and most of the other performance stuff already done. As far as airbox/chip/pc/exhaust mods go you can spend a fortune (if you want). The sprocket thing is relatively cheap and makes a big difference.

I recommend you have a good read through the stuff on here and the other RSV forums before you get your wallet out! It's also worth keeping your eye on the for sale section as lots of good stuff is coming up all the time.

Cheers

Rob :)

I will have a look through now mate. I am not sure if i want to take to much of the rawness out it as i really like that aggressive pull it gives but the sprockets will be done as the town thing is all 1st gear.

Cheers mate

I'm going down the sprocket path myself soon , like you only had mine 12 months and read loads of posts about mods etc but I reckon you can spend a bob or 2 on airboxes and chips etc but still be nowhere near the power of modern litre bikes . The reason for buying a mille or any twin I suppose is for the way it sounds and makes you feel rather than how fast it goes and having a mille gets you that rather special club . I wanted to swap mine not long ago but soon as I look at it , well you will know what I mean .

Yes, I agree Floakey, that's what the old V-twin's all about...

A HUGE GRIN :D from ear to ear every time you twist the loudness control!

Rob :)

Lads you are all spot on ,i bet if you paid someone some cash to set up your sussies and do a little bit of work to smooth out the throttle youd find that the modern bikes cant touch you in the twisties and that makes it worth while cause anybody can go fast in a straight line and rsv's where designed to handle and they bloody do it well, enjoy lads..
