Hi folks,

I'm new here, registered 'cause the german forum is a nightmare to get in ...

Searching for an overview of all ever produced RSV Mille colour shemes.

I'm near to buy one next months and would like to find the year model and colour of my needs.

Thank you in advance
Carsten

Hi Barry,

thanx for first info. I'm wondering, which year models or colour shemes do have the same (I call it double) rear tail light cover?

About the coour shemes, the link offers a whole lot, but the owners seem not to care about year model or registration date :-( . Is there any official page on the net or kind of history with modifications and colours also? wikipedia isn't a great help on that and false, as the 2001-2003 models havn't had 143hp or PS ...
Aprilia itself just shows the 2008 models ...

Hi Carsten and welcome on board. I'm guessing you've tried putting the year and Aprilia Mille or RSV into google images?

From what you've said about the tail piece i'm assuming you are talking all model years from 1998 to 2003 before the redesign of the bodywork for the current shape. I'm not sure there is a web site out there that will show you all of the colours used over the years unfortunately, and with regards to specs, you'd be better to look in the archives of tests carried out in magazines as they normally have a tech listing. I'm also not sure if Aprilia do the same as the Japanese and release differing colour schemes into different countries.

What colour are you interested in most?

I see it says you have an RG500? Pictures please!!! :inlove

Hi,

I do like all models with the small fairing spoilers in front of the handle bars, all 2004 and later rear tails and the rear of all older, as far as they have the matt black "double" cover of the rear light. I like all with golden rims and frames ;-) , and all with the big lion sticker or whatever it is on the big side fairings. I prefer the colour shemes with a uni ground colour, so red or grey or black. I#m not a freind of too many different fairing part colours ...

What I do like most are single cans with double outlets :) .

Are white signals and rear lights only aftermarket ones or did some come also from the factory?

Seems, as I'll buy a RSV from the UK, as the prices are kind of lower then in Germany these days. Any idea, what paperwork I need or would get from a seller in the UK?

How to send a pic in this thread?

Cheers
Carsten

Yearh, the clear lense indicators with orange globes and the LED rear tail light assemblies are aftermarket units. The tail light unit can have indicators inbuilt with led sequencing so as to have all in the one unit. Some of the UK locals here will be able to tell you more about purchasing a bike from the UK..i am in Australia and know zero of this. Cheers Aj

couldnt you just come over, ride it home, and re-register it when you get there?

and fore sure, if I would buy the older version, I would o with the colours of your both RSVs. Grey or black, doesn't matter to me, and you both have the black double cover over teh rear light also.
The only thing is, I'm worring about the power, cause as you know, the RG500gamma s a bullet, 170kg with full tank 72Nm and ~100hp with the JollyMoto 4in4 exhausts and cfk rotation valves. 7500rpm and bang, you have the torque ... I once drove a GSX-R600 K2 with 116hp, and was wondering, if my friend had'nd uninstall the restriction for 34hp version, but as I had a look at the tacho, 180km/h already, but feelin was crap, no rattling, no punch , all through the rpms the same and at the traffic light you have to have a look at the speedo, if the engien still running. So as the RSV has a litle bit more weight and only a bit more hp in original (sure more torque), I once said, to ever get happy witha 4-stoke I would need 150hp or more. A light 2-Zyl.-4-stroke may work a bit different, but 118hp is not that much!!!!

Four strokes truck, two strokes suck..they can never be the same :D

so yours is a 2004 Factory one, right, as I can see the Öhlins suspension. Did all the 2004 and later Factory's have the golden rims or did you buy it in the aftermarket?
What power output is normal at the clutch and at the rear tire for the newer ones? And torque?

This colour is not os my favorite, red-silver, black and gold ... hm, a bit to much for me (or my age ;-) )

Cheers
Carsten

gold wheels are put on after, 04 factory had blue wheels (another colour) to be honest i'm waiting for next year WSBK and then gonna respray her to a colour from that as its not my favourite colour scheme either
as for power - i'd say down on my old R1 but quick enough form em and the roads over ere

Hi Carsten.
RSVs aren't really about brute power - I suggest you ride one to see if you like it as it's very, very different from your RG. Most of the owners on this forum (including me) seem to have been bitten by a particular Aprilia bug - chances are you will be as well!
If you are buying one from the UK you will receive part of the UK registration document (V5) and you should ask for a receipt/bill of sale. The seller should sign the part of the V5 which says the bike has been permanently exported.
I do not know the procedure for registering a bike in Germany - you will have to check with your local rathaus. Make sure you will not have a problem with the TUV (type approval) regulations that I believe you have in Germany.
Good luck and post pics of your 'Prilla when you buy one!
