Does anyone know if you can remove the lense from the headlamps on the 2001 Milles?

Reason I ask is that I am looking to do something about that black plastic headlamp surround. Not quite decided what yet but I have some ideas brewing.

I thought it was a sealed unit. Guess you could break the bead around the light and re seal.
My mate did that on 636 to change the light to dual lights but when he washed the bike or it rained he got condensation in it. took him about year to have it resealed right.
