milton keynes
Hi everyone, just bought my second mille, my first was a 2001 r and I never had a single issue. After a couple of years off of a bike I've finally managed to pick up another one. At first everything was fine I used the bike for about a week with no problems then after leaving it for a few weeks while I was building a new garage the battery was dead. I charged the battery and now have it connected to c trickle charger. I switched the alarm off and started the bike a few times and all was well.until I turned the alarm off one day and it beeped 3 times quickly and now doesn't do anything. You can put the key in the ignition and start the bike up. Then I noticed it said diag 1 on the dash. The next time I tried to start it I put the key in the ignition and turned it on, the usual start up procedure lights on and fuel pump primed. Hit the starter button but instead of turning over all it did was operate the fuel pump. Very strange and now feel like I've bought a lemon. Just hoping someone's had the same problem and has resolved it.

Diag 1 is just TPS adjustment - I would investigate a tilt switch, a sidestand switch or an alarm issue

Thanks for the reply but what is tps adjustment and a tilt switch? I'm getting the impression it's an alarm issue. Gutted as I know nothing about electrics and no way I can afford to pay anybody to do it for me.

TPS is Throttle Position sensor - its alignment of the throttle intakes
Tilt switch is under seat next to battery - detects if bike over on its side - rattles and should be upright.
But I reckon Alarm - cause all sorts of issues - most remove from the loom - search around forum for that topic

Bloody things are more trouble than their worth. Thanks a lot. Can't believe I had to ask what a throttle position sensor was. I'll have a look through the forum thanks for the help.
