Nice Bike

First thing to do is not to do anything but read up on Sprag and starting procedures!!!

The engines are virtually bullet proof but need a decent battery and to be left on charge all the time when not in use.!!

ps and get rid of the dustbin silencer, fuel exhausts do a decent silencer ( see in my garage) for little money

problem atm is that its hard to get into neutral, seen the thread about the mod to the jet which should stop this, anything else anyone can recommend?

i have got it on optimate, as it wont be used for 1 month till it changes weather.

ill have a look at the silencers:thumbup

Chris, when I got the RSV (in March 2008) I thought WTF is going on with neutral, little matter because you do get used to finding it "eventually"

Thats a nice bike ! See you at Squires when the weather improves, Welcome as well.....

squires being Milk bar sherburn-in=elmet i take it? not been for a few years, used to live in sherburn. pretty sad but moved there just for the bikes lol

Hi Chris and welcome.
Nice bike.

thanks A303:thumbup

OK cool

Try adjusting the chain, AMB67 (Alan ) and me found that if you have about 22mm of movement it makes things alot slicker and neutral will be found easier.

Exhaust

http://www.fuelexhausts.com/Results.cfm?scndctgry_ID=2

starting do not open throttle when starting just use cold start and if it doesnt start straight away, leave it and check battery is up to condition.

Alot of guys here use a 14 BS battery that gives more power and change the starter solenoid to a 150 amp yamaha one.

Dont forget to adjust throttle slack to zero and change the front sprocket to a 16t or 15t.

Welcome to the forum mate.

OK, few things to check out:

Clutch fluid - if it's black it's been in there a while, get rid of it and ensure you bleed the clutch as per the instructions on this forum. (Chances are this will get rid of your clutch drag too) If it doesn't and you've checked your chain tension then you'll need the 40 jet mod.

Rear suspension linkage - do a search on the forum and have a look at what happens when it's neglected. My advice is to take it off and inspect it, at the very least repack it with grease.

Lastly but not least important - Your battery - if it is more than 2 years old bin it, it'll let you down when you need it. Again do a search on the forum and buy the best you can afford - just search for 'Sprag' and see what happens if you neglect your battery and the correct starting procedures.

Of course there are loads of other things to check out, let alone the brakes, but at least this gives you an idea of what to look out for.

If you look after these bikes they are awesome, but the do need to be ridden regular. Leaving them sitting in your garage causes the problems.

Welcome

:thumbupCongrats on getting a great bike, first thing to check is if it's been de restricted, as in having the plate removed in the airbox and the green/blue wire cut going into the ECU box which is located under your seat, and finally the restrictor in the exhaust.

Lets look forward to some good weather and great days out.:eatcorn
