RSV engine alignment in a Car application?

Hi everyone,

A mate of mine is considering using the RSV powerplant in a car application, but was wondering how important it was that the engine sat in the same plane as it does on the bike. The engine will obviously run East to West in the car, but he wants to know if it can safely be tilted from front to back (like doing a wheelie!) to help with the gearbox output alignment for the prop, or would this affect the oil supplies in any way, even though it runs a dry sump?

Also, anyone know roughly the weight of an RSV motor?

Thanks in advance,
Nige.

As the RSV motor is dry sumped an incline should not prove too problematic. Just remember that he will need good clearance to get at the oil filter and oil drain bolt.

Thanks guys. He's bought my Suzuki Cappucino off me as a rollling chassis to fit a different engine into as a project. He's considered engines like the ZX12, GSXR1000 etc, but due to the width of the engine (length in the car) in order to keep the weight behind the front wheels, he would need to cut into the bulkhead quite a lot, which he'd rather not do, hence considering the V twin arrangement and with the Aprilia having the added bonus of being a dry sumped engine, this would ease a few other issues.

Any particular RSV engine you'd advise over others, like 2002 onwards for example?

Nige.
