your a clever lot so i thought someone may be able to help.
My 2000 rsv has an aprilia titainium exhaust end can that came with a different micro chip to the original item.

Does this chip alter the fuel mapping in some way to suit this can?
What would happen if i put the standard chip back in with this can?
Should this can and chip make any noticable difference to the standard set up. I'd like to know before swapping everything over and trying.

If i want my bike to lift the front wheel on the throttle alone, can fitting a Power Commander give me more torque with the bike still being ridable and reliable?

Any suggestions or advice?

All i know mate are chips taste good, exhausts are loud and pc is short for personal computer.
My bike wheelied on throttle the other day and all i have is ex and different gearing and it shot up like coke up kate moss` nose :thumbup
Most enjoyable :biggrin

OK.

The EPROM that came with the exhaust will have mapping written within to suit your basic engine settings throughout the rev range with that exhaust fitted.

Consider the Exhaust and EPROM as matched components that must really be fitted in conjunction with each other. You're quite right it does alter the fuel mapping to accommodate the exhaust and possibly alters the ignition timing too.

Putting the standard EPROM in with the Ti exhaust will most possibly result in power and torque loss throughout the rev range. It may also damage the engine, if it runs the mixture lean.

The Ti exhaust and EPROM will make a remarkable difference to how the bike behaves throughout the rev range. You'll possibly feel it a lot smoother through acceleration and possibly sharper/cleaner power delivery with more torque.

A PC3 with a custom map is the way to go, it fine tunes your EPROM so that your fuelling and ignition is spot on for your bike. Big gains can be had with a PC3.

Lift your front wheel, well it should do this already!!!

If not then you may have a problem, try going along a quiet road at 4000 RPM in first gear, open up the throttle sharply and you should feel the front end lighten.

Don't be afraid of giving the engine some RPM's they are pretty solid lumps in these things.

Have fun.

That all makes sense. I really need to practice my wheelie tenique. I can lift it over a hump in the road but on demand..... Do RSV's balance nicely on the mono or is it like walking a tight rope?

They balance most pleasureably, especially after a snick into 3rd :D

If you drop the gearing you'll find that your bike will be far more willing to lift on power alone in 2nd once you've figured where the torque starts to hit in. Although i'd still recommend a quick clip of the clutch as you throttle on hard as it makes it more predictable, then its a quick snick into 3rd not to soon after, and then enjoy the scenery as it passes by from your new higher view point.

A power commander will help, but if you have the chip and can already, i'd go and get yourself a dyno run and see what the fuel/air ratio is looking like, as it may well be within parameters already. Then you could spend your hard earned on changing the gearing instead :devious

Good luck and enjoy :thumbup

If you really wanna wheelie machine then search the forum for gearing.

Pretty sure that the best set up is 15/42, mine has this gearing and the front lifts up no problem.

Just watch out for the coppers.

Last option that's not mentioned is wheelie school! I did it and haven't looked back (or down!!) since!! PC111 with custom map-ArrowTi can- Renegade airbox = loads of torque and power wheelies!! Slight dip of the clutch in 2nd then once in the air a clutchless change to 3rd and balance her on the throttle!! Easy as that!!

also if its the geniune article when the bike has a set-up the trim pots can be adjusted unlike some chips out there

I have been there and done that with the chips and a standard chip ran best of all with my Ti RSC can, better low rev pick up, the RSC one produced the power higher up the rev range, and did not produce more power, when these bikes were being raced Aprilia UK were running the standard chips on their race bikes, my advice is fit the standard chip, i covered 18k miles on mine, it will not do any harm to the motor as the fueling will adjust to the can.

My bike is now a track bike and is one of the quickest RSV's out there without a PC111 as well, a PC111 is not completely necessary TBH, but if you are going to fit one get it mapped to suit the mods on the bike, BTW have you done the airbox on it yet?
