Another quick ? A mate of mine bought a 2000 model Mille new and took it to an Aprillia dealer for its second service and they asked him if it had its first service done as there was some restriction fitted that helps stop any damage while the bike is run in and it was still fitted. Any one know if this is true and if they still do this? Mine feels a little muted and i was wondering if its this or just that ive come from a K6 GSXR1000.

Cheers again

Also thanks for the tip on bleeding the rear brake it now works a treat

I'm a bit surprised the agents asked this question as they were carrying out a service.
The restrictions were a 'top hat' looking device in the airbox - obviously to restrict the airflow and should have been obvious to any agent carrying out a service. The second restriction was undone by cutting a wire - again obvious by taking the seat off.

The ones asking didnt carry out the first service it was a normal bike workshop. Are the newer ones the same?

Restrictions were in the exhaust and airbox, plus a wire needs cutting from the ECU, i would be very surprised if this has not been done.

Your bike is different, if you have aftermarket exhausts fitted you will have to (if it is not done already) get map2 installed by an Aprilia dealer, again i would be surprised if this has not been done if you have cans fitted.

The bike may well feel a bit flat, that is the nature of twins, but if you check your speedo you will be surprised just how fast you are going, my advice is get 15/42 (i run 15/43) sprockets on, do an airbox mod if not done already and this will make it feel less flat.

I bought a standard bike late last year and compared to my 04 with a few mods it felt sluggish and lacking in oomph, so if you want more of a kick in the pants do some modding:thumbup

Cheers bud
The cans are getting fitted on Tuesday by the dealer and he's mapping it as well. Im trying not to mod it till im more than happy with the bike. I lost a small fortune moding the last bike. As soon as im happy with the bike ill be doing the sprockets and no doubt more will follow:devious
