I'm trying to get the money together at the mo for a service from Griff. To be honest unless your brakes need changing I'd leave them. Who looks at brakes when they're going around at 60mph.

You don't understand bay. R is a little OCD aboot his brakes as well. He's felt my rotors several times. In fact I think it takes our friendship a little far:)

Ye dinnae get it dae ye Bay min....apart from the fact that ah reckon mine are buggered cos they rattle aboot seriously
(possibly cos bobbins r worn thru corrosion wi riding thru two shitey salt infested Scottish winters oan it), ah jist like tae dae things tae mak ma T a wee bitty different than the next loons...

...an anyroads ye bought a fancy end can didnt ye.....nothin wrong wi yer original that ah could see at 60mph......

Lots of peeps on the hayabusa forum i use have the black shadow discs and they all seem to rate them highly with no problems reported over several years....good enough for stoppin a busa good enough for anything in my book:thumbup

Ive run Galfers and EBC , liked them both well enough. No warping or brake shudder but you get what you pay for. Yeah, they were expensive.

Hi everyone.
Sold my Buell Firebolt and recently bought an 09 Tuono instead to stick with the v-twin family. New to the forum too and this is my first post so "hi!".

I have been considering tricking up my new toy with some wavey discs and have also been looking at both Armstrong and Black Shadow units. Armstrong are considerably more expensive so I sent them an e-mail an (cheekily!) asked why they thought I should spend the extra cash on theirs and not go the Black Shadow way. This was their response:

"We have a very good reason why you should buy Armstrong discs, that's simply because they (and their brake pads) are manufactured by the same Company who manufacture standard Original Equiupment Discs and Pads, they are Actually used by the British Moto Cross Leaders Anrnaud Tonus and Zachary Osbourne who both won the British Moto Cross yesterday at Foxhill Racing Circuit here in the UK, they are also ranked 5th and 6th in the World MotoCross championships.
When you handle these discs you'll know instantly that you have a work of serious engineering in your hands, they really won't disappoint you, for all it's worth I also use these on my Track bike Yamaha R6 and love the late braking I can perform as a result of having a serious disc and pad to rely on."

So, what do you think? It's a pretty good sales pitch and I've now gotta make the choice....I might have to ask my wallet what it thinks of the idea!! :0)

O.E equipment for who?:dunno
Aprilia discs are made by SunStar.Thats what is stamped on mine.

Feedback i've heard are the Armstrong discs are ok at best but the pads positively suck ***...of course if you ask Armstrong about their product they are going to big it up...imho i always prefer the opinions and experience of like minded bikers so i would spend my money on the Black Shadow discs if i was in the market to replace discs with best quality at the cheapest price and spend some of the saving on quality pads Bendix/Brembo/Perfomance friction imho of course

If there are a few people looking for disc's I could sort a group buy.

Just forget that new Capo.....and get them.....go on......you know you want to........;)

I put black shadow discs on mine this year after reading good reports on busa & Kawasaki forums. The guy is knowledgeable helpful and gives good service. Done 3k miles on them and they stop just fine & look cool.

Just a word of advice for when you remove the old discs, heat the bolts before removing them in order to soften the threadloc. If you don't, there is a danger of stripping the thread out of the wheel which would truly suck! It's also worth using new bolts - I picked up mine very cheaply from a motocross parts supplier on ebay.

Sounds about right but I bought the rear as well for just another £20 - I know the back brake doesn't do much but it does look sweet.
