Renegade airbox and velocity stacks ?

Hi everyone..
I've recently bought and fitted Renegade Airkit and the early RSV collector box to an RSV-R (03). My question: is it worth fitting velocity stacks considering that the air filter would completely cover them. Would be grateful if anyone has any thoughts on this or if anyone has actually done it..

Cheers

Hi Dave,

I was told by a supposed expert in his field that if you fit either the Renegade or Evo race airbox mod then you don't need to change teh velocity stacks. Apparently its all to do with the inlet track of the air going through your throttle bodies. So you increase inlet track by either shortening the velocity stacks or remove the lid of your airbox and increase the volume of your airbox.Thats how it was sort of explained to me and I am no expert so perhaps someone else in the know can either confirm this or correct it.

If your looking for more power rather than buying the velocity stacks you might be better off buying (if you haven't already) a full race exhaust system or even better a 2 in to 2 Akro/Arrow system.:thumbup

I've got an Evo airbox mod on mine and it certainly makes a difference in both power and noise.

Thanks Chris, thats helpful.
Actually that makes sense. Ive just bought an Akra slip on and chip. Was recently offered some 54mm throttle bodies with v.stacks but wasnt sure if it was worth the bother. Yeh, I've noticed a real boost with the airkit over the std box.
Cheers
