Removing the petrol tank

This is my first post in here because I am neither mechanical nor technical :lol

I want to run a power cable from the battery on my 2013 V4R to a sat nav mounted on the handle bars. I take it the best way of doing this would be to run it under the petrol tank? Also, is there a Haynes manual or equivalent available for the V4R? I've not seen one yet and they've been invaluable to help me do basic jobs like this on previous bikes I've owned.

If Haynes was to rate me, they'd give me 1.5 spanners tops... so go easy.

Ta.

I have fitted a usb port on the right handlebar and ran the loom down the right side of the bike (as you sit on it).

All I needed to remove was the right side tank infill panel and the seats.

I threaded the loom through a space above the radiator and behind the frame spar and cable tied it to the existing loom.

I hope this makes sense.

That's great thanks and well within my mechanical and technical comfort zone!

Thanks.

Got it wired up as suggested. Only issue is that it is a constant power supply off the battery, as opposed to being off the ignition.

I used a switched live from the sidelight to power my 12V socket.
Only had to remove the nose fairing on my 2003 Gen1
