Alright lads just thinking im starting to get everything together for my respray once again and i was wondering how tricky it was to remove the tank and rear section ?

Tanks a piece of piss, two bolts at the headstock, one bolt under the seat. unplug the fuel line and wiring on fuel pump, just take care not two damage any wiring on the fuel pump.

Tail section easy, think its 10 bolts in all. 6 underneath and 4 on tail lamp .Can be a little ackward when trying at maneuver the back end off as its 1 piece and easy to scratch.

you suprise me, i see you working on complex engine rebuilds etc and then you ask questions about tasks that i even consider simple
lol
most tanks are colour code the pipes and remove disconnect fuel pump
unbolt tank
can't speak for the rear end on pre 04 but on mine, its very simple, main thing to remember is drawings and notes digital photos and colour coded tape

I know rr buddy im full of surprises :laugh

As easy as it is i always like to check before i start a job for the 1st time :thumbup

yeah the venture into the unknown can seem so fraut with surprises....
in my experience the only thing you need is good tools and common sense

now where can i get some, instead of these shi** i keep breaking

lol

Not sure where ya can find that mucker but when ya do let me know! I wanna swop a Hammer and a short temper for some good tools and common sense :laugh

its so frustrating that yo'd need to spend about 2 grand on tools to be self suficient and even then you'd need an axone in our case

worse thing for me is, if i've done it then i know its done, wish i could sit and watch my mechanic, so i know he does everything he charges me for

I have just taken my tank off & it really is easy:thumbup, just need a couple of compression washers for the fuel pipe - 62p+vat each.
It is easier if there is 2 of you tho:biggrin

nice one buddy there is only one of me though oh and my trusty hammer :laugh always comes in handy in a tricky situation :Bigthumb

What where the compression washers for buddy?

Just wedge a bolt in the end of the open fuel pipe. I would defo recommend getting someone to help so they can take the weight of the tank while you mess around underneath.

Only one of me too but we are hardy souls who always find a way to cope:biggrin
the compression washers are supposed to crush slightly to create a seal when tightened, a good idea where fuel is involved.....

painted my second hand fuel tank to day and got it fitted this afternoon, no fuel leak:doug
