Removing rear swinging arm

M

Mick Oliver

Need more advice from you very clever guys:
What is the best way to support the bike to take the swinging arm out I know take pipes off remove chain and linkages etc
But I use an abba stand and that fixes on the bolt that hold the swinging arm in so any suggestions and I dont have a beam to lift it from :dunno
I am sure some of you guys have done it:thumbup

any advice would help

Mick, Abba apparently do a swing arm removal adaptor kit but I don't know how it works. Have a look at their site and if there's a pic of it, you might be able to bodge something up.

I agree get the swing arm removal kit from ABBA. It bolts into one of the heelplate/footpeck bolts, normally the top one. They don't cost that much.
Or you could try putting axle stands under the footpegs, but personally I wouldn't trust that method.

upturned milk crate or brown ale crate with pading under the engine placed while on the paddock stand lower it on to the crate and remove paddock stand i have just done my 04 factory this way and no problems

If you have rearsets then Harris makes a pair of stands that has a tube that slides over the foot pegs to support the rear of the bike. If it's good enough for moto gp, wsb etc......

Cheers guys modded my abba stand and got the swinging out just to fit a new polished swinging arm I got off E bay the exhaust bolts are a bit of a sod to get out I will replace with stainless nuts :thumbup,

Its Mark and trades under TIMEMACHINE he is based at Chelmsford Essex which is about 2 miles from my office.
I got set of clutch plates friction and steels polished rear swinging arm for 165 and he gave me a second hand K & N and a split link as well as he said he cant sell second hand filters but they are guarranted for 100k miles so well pleased.
But he has got things like big bored engine loads of fork sets justs loads of parts at quite reasonable prices air boxes and he specialises in Milles also he is a nice guy.

He's a diamond Mark at Time Machine, always responds to emails and always has what parts I need at reasonable prices.
