Removing rear shock spring safely

Hi guys, any idea how id remove a rear shock spring without causing myself serious injury? I want to get it off to be powedercoated as a bit of the paint has started flaking off. Im guessing let as much compression off with a c spenner but thats as far as ive got!

try a set of small coil spring clamps,ask yer local friendly car mechanic...

matey, once you loosen the preload right off the spring is pretty much loose enough to pull the cup off :thumbup
