So... I've removed my crash bungs :dunno

The central ones are just in the way and I keep catching my leg on it. Anyone else done this?

Is it worth keeping the front ones on or are they pointless without the pair?

For what it's worth, mine only had the front ones and was thinking about fitting the central ones.
As I understand it the front ones protect the rad and the central ones protect the frame and stop the gear / brake levers from denting the frame. If this is the case then both is best.
If you don't keep the central ones I would take them off your hands (if they'll fit a gen 2).

the gen 1 only came with bungs just behind the radiators (big white hockey puck looking things - see attached piccies

Post up piccies of yours to let us know what you're referring to.

knowing how easy these bikes are to break important bits on, i wouldn't want to not have crash bungs (although i do wonder what idiot decided they should be white...ffs...)

both sets is deffo best .

I ve got a full set of c/bungs on my gen 2 , the rear frame ones I found quite awkward to start with but you soon get used to them.

rather that than not at all

It would also stop your leg being squished between bike and the tarmac

Maybe coz I've got lanky legs and big feet but I feel uncomfortable with the rear ones - it almost feels like the could do damage to me in a slide, perhaps trap my leg.

Since I took them off I've been enjoying the extra room, especially crawling through traffic.

Also, I've heard horror stories about minor drops leading to damaged frame and even engine casing where the bolts pass through.

I'm going to put the front ones back - mine are black and inconspicuous - but I think I'll leave the rear ones off. It's what I pay fully comp insurance for after all.

Fugly, if you want them they're yours but they're not 100% as seen above. Let me know.

What are these rear ones of which you speak?

Sounds like after market jobbies. Any Pics of them before you took them off?

Definitely aftermarket

Perhaps you can see more clearly on this one, just in front of where my shins would be.

Ah yeah, frame sliders. They would piss me off too. Definitely keep the front ones on. Maybe put the frame sliders on if you are doing a track day, they'll stop the gear and brake levers from cracking the frame and writing the bike off

Sweet exhaust. Mucho jealous of that one

I bought a gen 1 with both sets of frame sliders and removed the rears as kepy smacking my knees on them. Just run with fronts now

Guess what? Day 2 without bungs - DROPPED IT!

Don't worry - it was onto the grass lawn while backing out of the garage around the car. No damage, just a bit of mud in the bar end.

LOL! What a pillock! I'm still not putting the rear one back though, much more comfy now.
