hi all, new member but reading forum for a few weeks.

thought somebody might be able to help here.....

got a charging problem. tested stator with volt meter. with battery disconnected i'm getting 0.3 - 0.4 ohms which is fine according to aprilia. i re connect the battery and start the bike and only get about 20v reading at 5k rpm. i understand it should be around 60v.

i wanted to test the regulator. what is the correct way to test and what sort of reading should i get?

thanks all
Dan

thanks, didn't see that section.

first off, i'm **** at stuff like this.

is this test done with the battery disconnected?
what does OL stand for?
do you not check the green wires?

Sorry it's not that clear but it should read zero "0"load, i just noticed you have a factory so i would be checking the brown connectors first.
Do a search on brown connector and i think Badger/Funners had a fix for it :thumbup

yeah i already got rid of both of the brown connectors.
just tested the wires. the only reading i get is when i touch the green wire with red on voltmeter and black voltmeter wire to one of the stator wires. they range from 655 - 660. any others i get no reading.
when testing reg/rec, do you connect the battery?

You have done the Diode test function :confused should be in volts not Ohms
Battery should still be connected.

Follow this CLICKY
It's best to have a pen and paper to write everything down and i put a small pen mark on each wire checked.
Hope this helps :thumbup

When checking resistance Ohms setting turn the bike off and disconnect your battery. You will fry your meter if you don't :roll

The OL is actually more than 1.5volts, your 0.655 - 0.660 looks ok.
Check your output Voltage for all three wires with the bike running.
Good luck
