Rear suspension connecting rod snapped!

Pulled my bike out of the garage today and it just collapsed at the rear!!

Further inspection found it was the rear suspension connecting rod had split down the length.

Anyone else had this?

Lucky for me it wasn't mid corner!!!

if its the triangle plate ya talking about............there has been 2 or 3 cases of this before world wide though http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74529&highlight=linkage+plates

One case of the dog bone i have heard of as well....but by the pics it looked like ZERO maintenance greasing the bearings

As you can see it's the dog bone section that is broken.

I have ordered a replacement along with the bearings, should I replaced the bearings in the shock and the bearing on the frame too? Are the original plates ok?

Gawd it's getting expensive lol!

No bearings in the shock chap just bushes and they will be fine.

Replace the link plates as mentioned also if i were you

You need to clean and re grease those needle bearings at least once a year

Thanks mate, I only got the bike in May and done about 1000 miles but will deffo do that from now on!

Good heads up though! Take note guys! Regrease should be ok to save a bit of dosh though!
