Hi guys I'm new to the forum and in need of advice, my rear shock has snapped and in need of a used or new in the north west if possible I'm a new rider and no clue on the best places to go for parts

Hi and welcome sorry to hear about your shock. It may help to give a few more details on the bike. I ride a Falco so not best placed, well between that and a lack of technical nouse, to advise but ...
I would guess it's not a bad te to consider a second hand Ohlins :). Other than that if you buy a second hand one make sure it is one that can be serviced. About 100£ I think. There ate other choices such as replacing like for like but I think if you did for a new Aprilia one it doesn't work out cost effective for what you get

Macron are popular but some other makes aren't great for the mone. One thing to consider Os whether you would need to change linkages

If you went for a sachs shock there is a mod you can do, to make it serviceable by fitting special shraeder valve on to it................search the forum and you will come across it, reason I say this is because you will have more chance picking up a cheap enough second hand sachs shock as every1 wants to upgarde to the ohlins.......hell you might even get some1 on here with a spare that thay will offer you!! :thumbup

ah here its is a post by Lonner

as said ebay for a decent shock.

you can worry about service and set up later as no bike sucks.

how the hell did you snap a shock !! or is it the spring that's broke ? if so that's a cheaper fix as you just need a spring

I was doing a service and was looking over the bike underneath and spotted that part of the bottom half of the shock was snapped off so it would have only had to come up to drop down the wheel count myself lucky I spotted it gonna go with used for now as cash is a bit tight my bike is milli Rsv 1000 2000 model w plate not sure what other specs I should put down ?

Hi Gazzauk68

I've got a Sachs rear shock looking for a new home. Taken it out of my 2000 RSV/Tuono track bike as I've replaced it with an Ohlins.

Yours for £60 delivered (by 24hr courier) if you want it?

Cheers

Jon
