rear shock removal

Hi,

I ride a RSV1000R ('04-'08). The compression rebound on my sachs rear shock has given up and the ride is less than pleasant. I need to get the shock out so I can send it off to be serviced (K-Tech can do this for about £150). Does any one know, or have an idiots guide, of how to do this at home?

Kind regards,

Mark

You'll need to get the weight off the back end (swing arm)
Ratchet straps to ceiling joists or a bar through the swingarm pivot supported on axle stands.
You could of course just invest in an ABBA stand for simplicity ;)

Once the weight is off the rear wheel, it's just 2 bolts, one at the top & the other at the bottom, then out she will come.
While you're in there, check out the needle bearings for grease...most don't have any... lol.
Put paper or a sheet under the bike before you start ripping it down...if you pull a needle bearing out by mistake, there 31 needles in each cage....x6 giving 186 in total...mind you don't loose any..:)

Download the manual...it's free...just do a search.

Thanks for the advice Tifa. I'll give it a go.

Take care with the falling leaves.
