2007 RSV failed MOT rear shock bush is this a common thing or is it the linkage and not he shock bush as this would appear not to be replaceable.

I thought the bush was gone on gen 1.When stripped it , it was actually the eye had split open on bottom shocker.
Best support the back end through frame, get back wheel off and have proper look where play is could be in one of the linkage bearings.

The linkages leave the factory with very little grease.
Therefore they wear prematurely. Many here strip them out and re-grease every 2 years 'ish'
Pull yours out and have a look at them, but before pulling the bolts, put a large sheet under the bike to catch the needles when they fall.
There are 6 races with 31 needles in each race.
Ask me how I know ;)

Chances are you'll be needing to replace them.
Not a big job, just a bit fiddly.
