Rear mudguard bolts sheared

Has anyone else suffered shearing of mudguard retaining bolts or exhaust bolts shaking loose on 2013 1200 luggage pack Capononord?
Happened to mine at 1650 miles. Aprilia say probably due to rear tyre change by specialist tyre fitters over tightening. Tyre fitters say as both sheared on one side may have shaken loose one bolt on the other side and caused load on the side that sheared.
Either way mudguard went up under hugger wrecked 200 mile road pilot 3 and the metal part of the mudguard also damaged rear wheel.
Anyone else had issues with Allen bolts?
As for customer service - so far neither Aprilia or the tyre fitters have been helpful. I'll be buying my next bike privately and fit my own tyres in future. I'll update on outcome and discuss the continued 'service' from the dealer and Aprilia UK when I have an update.

i will change reartire end of april.
i do this myself.
I will let you know if i expierence problems or not with the mudguard
butt i don't see why another tire can cause problems with the mudguard.
When you tighten the chane, you also have to "unbolt" the same bolts...

I had the mudguard bolts fall out on the right hand side, fortunately no damage.

All Caponords should be supplied with a bottle of loctite! I have had loads of bits fall off.

One of the first things I did was to remove that thing - personally I find it ugly. The only purpose I can think of is to prevent you from spraying stones and dirt on the rider behind you, but seeing as I don't ride any dirt or gravel I don't see the purpose (beyond identifying the bike as an "Adventure" bike). Am I missing something or is that the purpose of those?

I also removed that silly looking thing until going out in the rain, rear light and under carriage got covered in muck, rear light could not be seen. I refitted the silly guard saves a lot of cleaning.

Hi to anyone reading this old thread.....don't overtighten, also, use Locktite - they are alloy bolts into bare alloy threads and it doesn't take much screwing in/out to wear them out.

If in doubt - Helicoil them for a permanent fix. Cheers

Ps I repositioned my fugly (see other thread) and it looks and feels solid and doesn't hang out the back and work like a lever on those little alloy bolts.....but it's been raining here and I've not done any km's since doctoring the fugly....

You might also think the effort is not worth it as the Capo looks great without the thing!

Hello Guys,

I also lost a bolt and had a loose mudguard. I used new bolts and self-locking nuts and those seem to do the job nicely.
