Re positioned the rear brake M/C onto beautiful new Gilles rear sets. Have had no rear brake for a couple of months. I purchased a new M/C but although I now have rear brakes, it seems to have too much travel (about 50-60mm). Is this normal or is there something not right?

That's certainly not right mate, mine moves about 3mm - 4mm before it applies the brake. :devious

Have you removed the calliper, lifted it above the height of the master cylinder and bled it through?

Pretty sure there is a guide on bleeding these buggers in the how to section, take a look and if you get stuck then give us a shout. :thumbup

I put some gilles on mine a few months ago and still have a back brake :thumbup

The travel on mine is about 25mm max, i didnt use the return lever spring as theres enough force from the M/C to push the lever back into place after the brake being applied. The lever stops where i have set the Brake switch.

Try having a play with it and making finer adjustments, 50mm sounds a bit much.

I think you're right must be air in the system. Will bleed the brakes as recommended and see how we go, thanks.
