Got the Mille out today only to find that the rear brake pedal is going all the way down and nothing is happening. After bleeding the system for a while using the methods described on this forum I managed to get the pedal back but another problem arose. If I push the pedal down I get pressure then get a hiss and the pressure drops and the pedal goes right down. Almost like the master cylinder can't hold the required pressure. After a call to the dealer to price up a master cylinder I picked myself up off the floor and thought I'd ask on here and ideas before I burn it.

Assuming the 'hiss' is comming from the m/c then I'd say the seals are shot.
ebay is your friend at times like this.
Pull it off, strip it down and have a look at the state of the internal bore before you do anything too drastic.
If it's heavily scored, then a replacement is your only answer I'm afraid.

Yeah I got a spare one aswell fella, upgraded mine to one of a Aprilia shiver.

not long after i bought my bike the rear brake went **** no feel .my bleed method = 1 open nip one full turn .2 hold finger firm over nip .3 nice and slow pump lever say 10 times and hold down lever .4 lift finger off nip for less than half a second then back on firm .5 repeat 3 and 4 till you get good pressure on brake lever ... please follow these steps word for word and keep fluid topped up at all times, only take firm finger off only when nip is tight again. worked for me mate 2 years since i done mine still good :thumbup do it this way mate i could take a wee while but if its just air and not a ****** master it will work my master is on my rearset mate wheres yours ? oh and pull lever up and push right down fully at all times when pumping(slow works better)
